00:00The Philippine Football Federation's Director of Senior National Teams, Freddy Gonzalez,

00:06has returned to the successful campaign of the Philippine Men's National Football Team

00:10in the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024.

00:13This is the story of his teammate, Daryl Oclares.

00:18The closing of 2024 was successful for our Philippine Men's National Football Team

00:25because of their return to the semifinals of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup after 6 years.

00:32Our football team also won against the Southeast Asian powerhouse Thailand and Indonesia

00:39that we have not lost for a long time.

00:42Because of this, the Filipino fans had hope

00:45that they have been waiting for several years for the rise of the state of Philippine football.

00:50In an interview with the Philippine Football Federation's Director of Senior National Teams, Freddy Gonzalez,

00:57he said that this is just the beginning of their mission to make our football team more successful.

01:03He said that there are still many Filipino booters who should be waiting to play in the national cup.

01:09I think now it gives everybody hope, you know.

01:12Over the last how many years, Philippine football has kind of been on a downward trend.

01:17And so when we said, when I got this job, we set out to start bringing us back up.

01:22And the goal was, as I said, when I first did my first interview,

01:27that, you know, we go with every tournament coming to win.

01:32Gonzalez also asked for the continued support of his fans who are watching the 12 men.

01:38Unbelievable, we're back where we should be, you know.

01:41And that's, we're going to continue and we're going to keep building this team.

01:44We have a good group of young talent mixed with some veterans.

01:49And I hope that, you know, the Filipino general public really, you know, really embraces this group

01:57and, you know, brings football back to the top of Philippine sports.

02:01The Philippine Men's National Football Team is expected to take action in the final round of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualification,

02:11where they will face Tajikistan, Maldives, and Timor-Leste.
