00:00To win 2024 was it was tough. Physically, it's exhausting. Mentally, I would say it's more

00:15exhausting because at the end of the day, your brain doesn't shut off. You're always thinking

00:20about the next day where physically you could shut your body off, but your brain is always

00:25thinking about the next day. As far as a recipe to win the Dakar, I don't know if there is one.

00:37I think it all comes down to who's the strongest in these situations, who's getting better sleep

00:42on these nights. I don't see my recipe being super crazy or wild. My recipe is pretty organic.

00:52I feel like the more fun I have, the better I am at what I'm doing, so I just try to keep

00:59what I do fun every single day. I don't feel like I'm the best by any means. I still

01:08feel every single day that I'm losing something if I don't do something in the right direction,

01:12so I don't ever think of myself as being the best. When the Dakar is cool, I've done it

01:19twice. Do I want to do it again? 100%. That doesn't make me the best. When the helmet goes

01:25on and the strap gets buckled, we're all friends, but we're also enemies. When we're

01:32racing, we're enemies, but if we're also out there in the middle of the desert, something happens.

01:36We're out there by ourselves, so we have to help each other, but when the helmet comes off, when

01:40the bidwack, we're all friends. You could be enemies, but that's not going to get you very far.

01:45To go back-to-back now, I think it's a little bit more difficult. We're riding smaller bikes.

01:52They're not twin cylinders, but I feel like the era that we're in right now is more competitive.

01:59Every day from prologue to literally the last kilometer, we're 110% sprint racing. It's full

02:09gas every day. There's never a day where we're chilling, because the moment you go cruise,

02:14those other guys are still going 110%. It's tough now. We're going fast, really fast.

02:23Every day in the rally, you're winning and losing by seconds. When I started rally,

02:292016, I think the times were a lot bigger, but now everyone's pushing and everyone is

02:35pushing and everyone is training a lot more. The Dakar is part of me. I really can't imagine

02:43not being at the Dakar. I mean, the moment I don't get to go there,

02:47I feel like a piece of me will be empty.
