The father of Yap Xin Yuan, the victim in the murder case, claimed his daughter's remains at Banting Hospital on Friday (Jan 3).   According to Sin Chew Daily, Yap Eng You expressed sorrow over his daughter's passing, saying that he was unable to recognise her face when claiming her disfigured remains. 00:07According to Hsinchu Daily, Yap Engyu expressed sorrow over his daughter's passing,

00:12saying that he was unable to recognize her face when claiming her disfigured remains.

00:18Yap, who has three daughters, said the deceased was his eldest.

00:22He also said that her remains would be sent to the Cheras crematorium for her final rites.

00:28Fifteen-year-old Xinyuan was reported missing on December 19

00:32after lion dance practice at a basketball court in Cheras.

00:36The teenager's decomposing body was found two weeks later in a river in Banting.

00:41Physical verification was not possible due to the condition of the body,

00:45but it was later identified as that of the missing teen after a DNA test.

00:50Three suspects, including the victim's 16-year-old boyfriend,

00:54have been remanded until Sunday.

00:56It was reported that the boyfriend confessed to disposing of Xinyuan's body

01:01with his family's help.

01:02Police said the remand of the detained suspects

01:05is expected to be extended as investigations continue.
