00:00The Department of Health, or DOH, reported a total of 188 firecracker-related injuries

00:05as of 6 a.m., higher than 124 cases recorded last year.

00:10152 victims are aged 19 and below, and 172 injured are male.

00:15122 cases, or 72 percent, are due to illegal firecrackers such as Volga, Five Star and

00:21Piccolo, while 123, or 65 percent of cases, are active users.

00:26The health department urged the public to avoid firecrackers, report illegal sales and

00:30keep children away from hazardous items.

00:33Safe alternatives include noisemakers and attempting community fireworks displays.

00:37The DOH also advised having a first aid kit on hand and supervising children.
