00:00Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim described 2024 as a historic year that served as the

00:13prelude and foundation for Malaysia's national reform agenda.

00:17In his address for the New Year on Tuesday night, Anwar said throughout 2024, the government

00:23initiated transformative efforts to ensure that policies implemented benefit the majority

00:29of the people.

00:30He said the launch of the Medani Economic Framework in July 2023 provides a clear direction

00:36for re-establishing Malaysia as a leading economy in Asia.

00:40The government has initiated efforts to create new jobs starting this year.

00:47I also understand that not all government decisions and policies are popular or successful.

00:57However, all of these are implemented with a clear political stance, with a sincere intention,

01:05as well as a detailed assessment to ensure that the foundations provide benefits to the

01:13majority of the people.

01:14For example, the disbursement of diesel subsidies, and previously, the electric tariff that was

01:23imposed by the Medani government to end the long-term stagnation of diesel subsidies that

01:32have been allocated to the richest parties, and foreigners, three and a half million people

01:40who are not eligible to receive subsidies.

01:43The government also has a tendency to increase the costs that must be handled, because the

01:50cost of living is handled through the implementation of the Payung Rahmah program throughout the country.

01:57The monitoring teams are actively mobilized to monitor and take action on all parties

02:06that have dropped their prices.

02:11He said this year's added government allocation of Rp10 billion for the Rama Cash Aid and

02:17SARA initiatives was the largest amount in history.

02:21He said the government plans to increase next year's allocation for such initiatives by

02:2530 percent, bringing the total to Rp13 billion.
