00:00Welcome to Médienne TV in Marrakech, in this cultural chronicle about the discovery of five young talents from the Moroccan artistic scene,
00:17who are currently exhibiting at the Galerie et les Cantoirs des Mines.
00:21Five artists from the Moroccan artistic scene who are exhibiting for the first time as part of an individual exhibition.
00:30And to tell us about this magnificent exhibition, many of you came to see it because it is really exceptional.
00:36I have the pleasure of having Imen Raziki next to me.
00:40She is in charge of artistic programming within the Cantoirs des Mines.
00:44Imen Raziki, thank you very much for accepting our invitation.
00:48Please introduce us to these five artists.
00:51It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Cantoirs des Mines to show you five individual exhibitions of five emerging artists,
00:58who are exhibiting with us as part of the AJAZ program.
01:01To begin with, we have the exhibition Mirages and Dreams by artist Imen Raziki,
01:06who comes from the city of Tetouan.
01:09He is based in Tetouan, but he is a native, he grew up in Lyon.
01:13So he makes us discover a poetry of the desert, of wandering.
01:18And then we have the exhibition by Karim Barka, who comes from the city of Myrleves,
01:24who tells us about being and time.
01:29It is a reflection on temporality and the condition of man when he changes,
01:38depending on his environment.
01:40Then we have the exhibition by Emina Ezrek, entitled Entracte.
01:45Emina is a native of Casablanca, a large city in Morocco.
01:49So she is very interested in liminal spaces and also in the condition of contemporary man
01:55and how human beings can lead their lives in a large city such as Casablanca.
02:04Through these paintings, she creates intermediate liminal spaces
02:09and invites us to live these heterotopias.
02:13And then we have the exhibition Ad vitam by Ilyas El Dawi.
02:19He comes from the city of Mknes.
02:21He also went to the School of Fine Arts in Tetouan.
02:24Through his drawings and paintings, he explores life, life on earth, the universe
02:32and how it has evolved since the beginning.
02:38He sheds light on these areas of shadow that science has not been able to answer.
02:46And finally, we have Safa El Kadi, who, through his anamorphic exhibition, explores the surface and the matter
02:55and how matter can change, can transform itself through the surface.
03:01So, as you said, Imane Raziki, five artists, five universes,
03:07half of which have been chosen to exhibit, and those within the framework of the MAGES programme.
03:12What can you tell us about this programme and how?
03:15And why were these artists chosen and not others?
03:20The MAGES programme is an independent programme,
03:24which was initiated by the Comptoir des Mines Galeries.
03:29It was the idea of the founder of the Comptoir des Mines Galeries, Hicham Daudi,
03:35who always gave a lot for the emerging contemporary scene.
03:42And so he thought of initiating this programme and dedicating it entirely to this emerging scene.
03:50It's like offering a springboard to this young artistic creation
03:58to flourish and evolve and enrich the Moroccan artistic landscape.
04:05So, after a first edition of the programme, comes Act 2, which is the second edition of the programme.
04:12And unlike the first, we thought of doing these exhibitions at the same time,
04:19because the first time was at different times of the year.
04:25And so it's like celebrating this young artistic creation,
04:34which is very diversified and which makes us very proud.
04:40In any case, it's a very, very beautiful pride, because when you discover the exhibition,
04:45we had the chance to take a peek and discover the spaces.
04:50We discover young talents, but really exceptional ones.
04:54They are young. And you, who have worked with these artists,
04:58you are also the curator of the exhibition.
05:01And you have also participated, I mean, even before the creation,
05:05because you have worked with them, you have been on their side.
05:09So there are men and women, young and old, some are older than others.
05:13How did you experience this experience of working with this new generation
05:18who, when we see them, in any case, come out of the usual cracks?
05:24We feel that there is creation. I was going to say that they are not rebels,
05:27but in any case, there is such an innovation that we are really surprised by such creations.
05:32How did you experience this work alongside these young artists?
05:36First of all, I would like to point out that we are a curatorial team.
05:41A project of such magnitude would never have taken place without this beautiful team
05:47dedicated to the family of the Comptoir des Mines.
05:50Besides, I want to thank them, I thank all the members of our team.
05:55And it is always very moving to accompany the artists in their creation process.
06:04We are each time immersed in a different universe.
06:07Especially when we are faced with a generation of audacious artists
06:13who dare to explore different materials.
06:18We are each time immersed in a different universe.
06:23So it is both enriching for us.
06:26And this exchange is enriching for us and for the artists,
06:30which is why it is so important and necessary today.
06:35Maybe one last question.
06:38You have done studies in sociology, studies in literature.
06:42You are now responsible for the programming within the Comptoir des Mines.
06:46When you look at everything that has been created, everything that has been done,
06:50I imagine that somewhere the sociologist's gaze,
06:54what gaze do you have on this new scene of Moroccan creation?
07:03Already humanly, far from the sociological gaze,
07:09it touches me a lot because for me it is a very sincere generation
07:16who rebelled against so-called elitist materials,
07:23always linked to a certain class.
07:27And they dared to explore in their culture, in their environment,
07:32to exploit unusual materials.
07:36And we extract very sincere stories.
07:39And also I am very proud because they do not describe us a perfect Morocco,
07:47but a real Morocco with its social realities, with its political realities,
07:52with its economic realities, with its cultural realities too.
07:57So I can only be proud of this generation of artists.
