00:00Since 2011, an estimated 14 million Syrians have been forced to flee their homes.

00:067 million are believed to be internally displaced, with 6 million or so refugees.

00:12Since 2013, the Syrians make up the highest proportion of people seeking asylum here in the European Union.

00:20From January to October of this year alone, there are an estimated 124,000 asylum applications.

00:27More than a million Syrians are estimated to be living in Germany, with the majority having arrived between 2015 and 2016.

00:35The country has moved to halt asylum applications, a move that could impact over 47,000 people.

00:43Over half a dozen other EU member states have taken similar steps.

00:48Roughly 100,000 Syrians live in Austria, and the country's government is taking even bolder steps,

00:55as well as halting asylum applications, it's preparing plans to repatriate and deport Syrian migrants.

01:03The European Commission says it's adhering to United Nations guidelines,

01:07adding that conditions in Syria have not yet been met for safe, dignified and voluntary returns.
