00:00Numbers wise not make up or build or you know arm strength or any of that stuff just numbers wise strictly

00:05That I could find in comparison to Drake May and not just Drake May

00:09But going to a team that was kind of light on weapons kind of light on o-line

00:14Maybe not as light on coaching these guys had better coaches, but in general

00:18I would say they were not great situations for a rookie quarterback to be in but they still managed to put up pretty good numbers

00:24And the team's thought hey, we really got something here with this quarterback, so here's number one

00:29Marcus Mariotta

00:31Who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans played 12 games two thousand eight hundred and eighteen yards?

00:36Nineteen touchdowns ten picks a passer rating of ninety one point five now Mariotta's problem was injuries

00:42He used to get injured every year

00:44And that was you know a thing that really derailed him and maybe if he had stayed healthy

00:48Then he would have had a different career trajectory, but from a pass catcher perspective his rookie year

00:54They had Delaney Walker, and that's it does that sound familiar

00:56Hunter Henry and nobody else it's basically what Drake May has they drafted Corey Davis with the fifth overall pick

01:02Two years later in 2017 he was a colossal whiff

01:06Davis was supposed to be their stud receiver, and he was just a total bust and then a couple years later

01:11I think they drafted AJ Brown, but he was already

01:14Tannehill was already there and Mariotta got benched for Tannehill

01:17And that was it and that was a situation where they picked up the fifth year option, right?

01:21So they believed in him enough to pick up that option

01:24But then they ended up letting him go after that and not signing him to a long-term deal

01:28That was I'd say a pretty bad situation for a quarterback to be in you know they were all about the run game

01:34They didn't really care about surrounding him with anyone

01:37They assumed that he could do it all himself, or it was just incompetent front-office work

01:41Whatever you choose to believe there the other comp I found for rookie year anyway is Daniel Jones
