00:00And I hear somebody say in our ears like during rehearsals like Scotty's got a

00:10new putty grip and I was like what like no he didn't change anything and I just

00:17could not believe like I didn't pick up on this at the beginning of the week like

00:21I was there at the pro-am didn't see that he changed to the saw and so now

00:25I'm like as an analyst I'm kind of freaking out of like I haven't seen it

00:29yet the first time I see it is when it comes up live on TV and so I was just

00:33preparing myself of okay this guy might have 42 putts today and it played

00:38terribly or he could make everything so you know you just try to figure out at

00:43that point do your homework of of kind of why you know why would you make the

00:48change because we I think we all agreed that the putting was good over the last

00:54part of the year was it great no but was it good yes much improved from the

00:58beginning of the year even when you go to the hero championship last year where

01:02he was using that Olsen blade putter I still remember even that week like the

01:07stroke yes he was making putts it still didn't look that comfortable to him and

01:12you saw his to me at times his hands through the ball looked a little like

01:15shaky in my mind too like just didn't look overly confident but still

01:21didn't matter he struck it so well but when I looked at the stats and saw like

01:29exactly why you know he makes the change it was it was like a hundred and fifty

01:35seventh I believe was the stat from like three to five feet now everything

01:42outside of that was probably more on the manageable sides like inside of ten feet

01:47you know like he's average but outside of 30 feet he's really good so what we

01:54saw in the first couple days was him like mixing up his grips so long putts

01:59he's got the conventional then he goes to the claw inside at 10 feet and the

02:04stroke in the path looked really good and how the ball was rolling into the

02:08hole was not like changing speeds inside of 10 feet so like he had a really you

02:15know good sense of the tempo of the stroke and like how far he needed to

02:18take it back not that the number one player in the world doesn't know how

02:21hard how how far to take back a 10 10 footer an 8 footer a 6 footer but to be

02:28able to do it in competition you know it's a big deal because I can I can

02:33attest that to not only myself but other players when they change things a lot of

02:39times it takes you know a couple rounds couple tournaments a month to get used

02:44to a new putting grip and I'll say that he looked pretty damn comfortable right

02:51from the get-go he was making all the putts like you kind of figured he might

02:54miss a couple ones early he didn't and the stat that I wanted to kind of go a

03:00little bit more in depth on he said third and putting what I saw was inside

03:05of 10 feet which is the reason after the round when we asked he's like what's the

03:09reason for he said you know I just want to get a little bit better inside at 10

03:12feet he was 63 or 65 inside of 10 feet this week so the you know I think what

03:20Tiger Woods said was he said this last year I believe I don't know where

03:24exactly it was but he he described Scottie Scheffler in this he said you

03:29know if Scottie Scheffler putts bad you know he's gonna be right there around it

03:34like he's gonna have a good week he's may not win but he's gonna be around it

03:38he putts decent he wins he putts well he blows away fields and that's what we

03:43saw this week the hero
