Peak of the Geminid meteor shower on Dec. 12-13

Although a nearly full moon will contest the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, there are ways you can still observe the shower. Don't let the moon stop you from seeing shooting stars.

00:10shower. The Geminids boast a whopping 120 meteors per hour during the peak on the night

00:16of December 12th and 13th. However, this year, there will be competition. A bright moon will

00:22put a damper on the meteor shower. Don't be discouraged. Although the moon will wash out

00:27fainter meteors, it won't wash out all of them. To increase your chances of seeing shooting stars,

00:33you must protect your night vision. The best way is to keep the moon out of your sight and find a

00:38dark patch of the sky to stare at. You don't need to look at the showers radiant point, which is

00:44toward the constellation Gemini. And if you live in or near a city, consider traveling to a dark

00:49area away from town. The further you are away from the city lights, the better. Make sure you

00:54bundle up, though. Looking for shooting stars takes a lot of patience, especially during cold
