00:50It's a romantic fairytale.

00:52all the Disney values and it's a really sweet, happy film that'll make you, you know, smile

00:59at the end of it.

01:00The biggest thing is that it is actually a family entertainer.

01:02You can just like go, there's groups and clusters of people from five years of age to 65 years

01:08of age.

01:09Everyone would enjoy it and it's a, it's a nice, you know, romantic Disney fairy tale

01:14set in that same tradition, but obviously it has the quirks of Millie.

01:20So it's an ode to Rishikesh Mukherjee films.

01:23That's why my name is Millie.

01:24It's another Rishikesh Mukherjee film and obviously there's an inspiration on making

01:29a simple, you know, fairy tale.

01:31I think that's what Rishikesh Mukherjee was known for.

01:34He made these, you know, really simple films, but they had a fairy tale element to it.

01:39Whether it was a goodie, whether it was a khubsura, whether it was a Millie, they were

01:42like really sweet films and they were, you know, driven by love and they were driven

01:49by great family values and I think that's what Khubsura is.

01:52It's an ode to Rishikesh Mukherjee films.

01:55Just to be safe, we bought the rights to the 1980 Rekha film.

02:02It's a Disney film and it's a love story and it's inspired Rishikesh Mukherjee films.

02:07There's always a happily ever after.

02:09And I think that's the amazing thing about, you know, love and I think that's what's missing.

02:14Sometimes when there are stories, movies which have a storyline, these days there

02:20isn't much of a happily ever after.

02:22Not so much, yes.

02:23And I think in this film, I think we're trying to do that.

02:26Have a happily ever after, where everything gets tied up in a beautiful neat bow.

02:33When I entered this industry, even though everybody thought I was put together, two

02:37years later was when I came and everybody was like, what are these weird clothes that

02:40she wears?

02:41Why does she never have her hair blow dried and down?

02:44You know, why does she dress like that?

02:45What is this makeup that she keeps on doing?

02:47Why doesn't she have a smoky eye all the time?

02:49And I just stuck to being who I am and that sets a trend, I guess, to a certain extent

02:55when you don't follow the beaten path.

02:57And I think then from being a misfit, you kind of become somebody who, I don't know,

03:04at the risk of sounding extremely immodest, you set trends.

03:07I think that's what it is.

03:08Choose the kind of films that you do or say what I want to say and have an opinion and

03:12be an individual.

03:13I think that is, when you are like a part of the herd, I think you'll always be a misfit.

03:19You don't fit anywhere.

03:21And I think in a lot of ways, I've never been a part of the herd.

03:24I don't think, I mean, even if I wanted to, and even if I thought that maybe I should

03:28become a little more conventional and do everything that comes my way, I don't think I'd be

03:33very happy.

03:34And I don't think I'd have much of a life.

03:36So, I rather, I'm quite satisfied and quite content with where I am right now.

03:41Not just me, not just Sonam, I think everyone thinks that being a misfit is actually a compliment,

03:46being called a misfit.

03:47Because otherwise if you fit, you fit in convention and so-called, you know, the modern perception

03:54of normalcy.

03:55And that kind of takes away your individuality.

03:57So, I'd always like to think of myself as a misfit.

04:01I was back in the day when we came in, we were just introducing metal music.

04:07People were like, what is this?

04:08What is this noise?

04:09And a lot of people still think that.

04:11But that's sort of, you know, I feel that everyone carries an individual culture inside

04:16them.

04:17And that being in a global village, in order to identify yourself as an individual, to

04:22be able to identify yourself as a unique person, you need to be a misfit.

04:26So, if I'm not a misfit, I think that's a terrible thing.

04:31Okay.

04:32And I'd love to be a misfit.

04:33And I think, I consider myself to be one.

04:35And for all those people out there who do think that being a misfit is something wrong,

04:39no, that's just the path to genius.
