00:10Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day for customers on its next reward day's 12-month fixed
00:15tariff who have a smart meter. Standing charges, the fixed daily fees paid regardless of usage,
00:21will also be waived during this period.
00:23EDF is offering eight hours of free electricity on Christmas Day for households enrolled in
00:28its Sunday Saver Challenge, a scheme that usually rewards customers for shifting energy
00:32usage to off-peak times.
00:34British Gas customers can also benefit from discounts this festive season. The company
00:38is offering reduced electricity rates between 11 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon on
00:43Christmas Day and Boxing Day for all customers with a smart meter regardless of their tariff.
00:48Households must register for the offer by December 15, with savings applied as credit
00:52to their accounts. Last year, the initiative saved British Gas customers a collective total
00:57of £1.4 million in credits.
01:00Other suppliers have year-round incentives that include holiday perks. Scottish Power
01:04is providing half-price electricity every Saturday and Sunday for smart meter users
01:09between 11 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. Octopus Energy customers enrolled in the OctoPlus
01:14scheme can enjoy free electricity during special hour-long sessions when wholesale prices drop
01:20below zero, earning account credits for exceeding their normal usage.
01:24Ovo Energy offers a different approach through its Power Move programme, which rewards customers
01:29up to £10 monthly for reducing energy use during peak times. By consuming no more than
01:348.5% of their total energy between 6 and 9 in the evening on weekdays, households can
01:40earn credits while shifting usage to less costly hours.
