00:00Ever wonder how the great Sam Elliott became famous? Born in 1944, Sam grew up in Oregon
00:05and had decided by age 9 that he would be an actor. His father, who worked for the U.S.
00:10Fish and Wildlife Service, was very skeptical of his dream. Sam's father died when he was
00:1418 and Sam felt his father died not believing in him. So, he decided to pursue acting as
00:19hard as he could. After moving to Hollywood, Sam landed his first credited role in 1969
00:24on the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Believe it or not, his wife, Katherine
00:28Ross, was the lead actress in the movie, yet they never spoke until years down the
00:31road on the set of another movie. They married in 1984 and gave birth to Cleo Rose Elliott
00:37that same year. Continuing his career, Sam landed roles in Mission Impossible, Gunsmoke,
00:41and Y5O. Best known for his Western characters, Sam later starred in The Quick and the Dead,
00:46Houston, The Legend of Texas, Tombstone, and You Know My Name. Later in his career,
00:51he was even in A Star is Born. His net worth is estimated to be around $20 million.
