Hello and thank you for joining us in this new edition of the Journal of the Economy.
00:12
In Morocco, the net flow of foreign direct investments has recorded good progress during
00:18
the first ten months of the year. According to data from the Office of Exchange, it reached
00:23
nearly 19.5 billion dirhams, an increase of 61.6% compared to the same period a year earlier.
00:31
Investment revenues have recorded an increase of 23.7% to more than 33.3 billion dirhams
00:40
and expenses have fallen from 7.1% to 13.8 billion dirhams.
00:46
Concerning the net flow of direct Moroccan investments abroad, it has fallen from 10.6% to 7.24 billion dirhams.
00:56
We are still in Morocco with the latest figures from the Office of Exchange.
01:00
The aeronautical sector maintains its good dynamics in exports.
01:04
In the first ten months of the year, exports were at 21.86 billion dirhams,
01:11
a 17.3% increase compared to the same period a year earlier.
01:16
This evolution is explained in particular by the increase in sales of the assembly segment,
01:22
from 26.9% to 14.26 billion dirhams.
01:27
Concerning phosphates and derivatives, their exports recorded 68.34 billion dirhams,
01:34
an increase of 12.5%.
01:37
The same dynamic also affects the automotive sector,
01:41
whose exports have plummeted from 8% to 131.35 billion dirhams.
01:47
On the other hand, the textile and leather sector and the metallurgy and plastic industries
01:52
have respectively fallen from 0.5% to 4.1%.
01:58
Before concluding the Morocco page,
02:00
know that the transfers of funds made by Moroccans living abroad
02:04
exceed the 100 billion dirhams bar during the first ten months of the year.
02:09
According to the data from the Office of Exchange,
02:11
they amounted to 100.29 billion dirhams at the end of October,
02:16
against 96.51 billion dirhams during the same period a year earlier.
02:22
These transfers amount to a 3.9% increase compared to the first ten months of the previous year.
02:28
Concerning the excess of the service balance,
02:31
it falls from 1.2% to 111.26 billion dirhams
02:35
due to an increase in import services to 16.6%,
02:40
more important than exports to 7.3%.
02:45
On their side, travel revenues amount to around 96.92 billion dirhams
02:51
during the same period,
02:53
against 88.63 billion dirhams a year earlier.
02:57
In international economic news,
03:00
while some countries are considering going green
03:03
in international trade,
03:05
Donald Trump has threatened the BRICS countries with 100% customs rights.
03:10
The BRICS group includes nine countries,
03:12
including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
03:15
In the financial sector,
03:17
the group is considering moving from the dollar,
03:20
which serves as a reference currency for global exchanges.
03:23
These countries have in particular considered creating their own common currency.
03:27
But this project, which would involve giving up part of its sovereignty
03:31
within a group of very heterogeneous countries,
03:33
is still far from being accomplished.
03:35
After his election against Kamala Harris in early November,
03:38
Donald Trump is due to take office on 20 January at the White House.
03:42
But even before that date,
03:44
the elected president has multiple threats of increasing customs rights
03:48
against different countries,
03:50
which poses a threat of a vast trade war
03:53
capable of penalising global growth.
03:56
China is now leading the way.
03:58
This is an encouraging sign for the authorities
04:01
who are trying to revive the second world economy.
04:04
Manufacturing activity has progressed in November
04:07
for the second month in a row.
04:09
According to the National Bureau of Statistics,
04:12
the index of the directors of the world's industry
04:16
was set at 50.3 points,
04:18
against 50.1 points in October.
04:21
This figure slightly exceeds the anticipation of analysts
04:24
surveyed by the Bloomberg Agency,
04:26
which was set at 50.2 points.
04:29
It should be noted that Pekin has announced
04:31
a series of measures each week
04:33
aimed at stimulating the economy.
04:35
These are, among other things,
04:37
a reduction in reference interest rates,
04:39
easing of housing purchase restrictions
04:42
and raising the ceiling of local government debt.
04:46
But some economists believe
04:48
that even more direct fiscal measures
04:51
are necessary to revitalise the Chinese economy.
04:54
This is the end of our edition today.
04:56
Excellent continuation of the programmes on our antenna.
05:05
Thanks for watching.
