00:00The Senate added an additional P5 billion to the Office of the President's budget for next year.

00:07This is part of the preparation for the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN Summit, in 2026.

00:14Under the new version of the Senate for the 2025 General Appropriations Bill,

00:20an allocation of more than P15 billion was set aside for the Office of the President.

00:26The additional fund was set aside because of the sudden hosting of the Philippines for the ASEAN Summit

00:31due to the back-out of the country that was supposed to host it.

00:35Meanwhile, it was also mentioned in the recent meeting of the Senate

00:38that Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin will be the preparation of the Philippines for the Summit.

00:45They emphasized the importance of preparation,

00:48such as having a place, ensuring security, and the continuation of the delegates.

00:55They said it should be well-prepared and should not be done in a hurry.
