Before giving serious consideration to filming here, producers of an upcoming
00:05
Hollywood blockbuster needed assurances that even during drought, the falls would
00:12
still flow.
00:18
Water tumbling off the falls was essential for the film. John Hiles, owner
00:25
of the Ginninderra Falls property hatched the perfect plan in case of such
00:31
a scenario to let water out of an historic weir on the Ginninderra Creek
00:40
just upstream from the top of the falls. The producers naturally requested a
00:46
demonstration, so earlier this week John's son Charlie carefully prized open
00:51
the weir while John scurried downstream to film the change in flow over the
00:56
falls. And bingo, it worked. Sure it wasn't quite the torrent like the 2012
01:09
flood, but the change in flow definitely impressed the producers. Filming is set
01:21
to commence next year.
