Today, Brut is at Delhi University's North Campus, where excitement is buzzing ahead
00:12
of the Doosu Elections 2024.
00:13
What, according to you, are the key issues in this year's Doosu Elections?
00:26
Doosu Elections, I don't think Doosu Elections have any motive as per say, because mostly
00:32
it is hooliganism.
00:33
Cars are coming, pamphlets are being thrown, the condition of the campus is getting worse,
00:37
nothing else.
00:38
Actually, we are freshers, so we have faced it a couple of times that the washrooms here
00:42
are very dirty.
00:43
So that is the main topic.
00:45
Green campus, clean campus, women empowerment, women's security, campus security.
00:53
What are your expectations from the candidates running the Doosu Elections 2024?
00:58
To be honest, I don't have a particular opinion about the candidates.
01:02
Doosu has become this muscle power election because it's a lot of jingoism and you can
01:08
see the posters, you can see the campaigns running around showing the muscle power rather
01:13
than focusing on the actual issues.
01:16
None, nothing.
01:18
I don't believe they could do anything for the campus.
01:20
I don't think they have intent of working for the university itself.
01:25
They are serving their own purposes.
01:27
They do offer alcohol, they do offer food, they offer you that we will make you meet
01:33
this person, we will make you meet that person and everything.
01:36
But I don't think these things are relevant for me.
01:38
At least for me, these things are not relevant, but many students do get influenced by that
01:42
also.
01:43
What are your thoughts on the use of posters and slogans on campus during the election
01:47
campaign?
01:48
Well, you can see that this has become a trend.
01:52
If you look at any party, throwing these pamphlets is wrong in my opinion.
01:57
In the coming time, this is slowly decreasing and it should end.
02:01
The election atmosphere here is very dirty.
02:05
If you want to campaign, you can do it well by using less paper.
02:10
Obviously, people look at the work, people and vote.
02:13
These posters are being thrown like this, this is against the guidelines of the DU.
02:17
And I am seeing that the election commission is not doing anything about this.
02:22
They will have to do something to stop this.
02:24
So that if you look here, posters like this have been spread all over the walls, the metro
02:30
station has been spread, the entire Chhatra Marg has been spread like this.
02:35
This is wrong and there should be student-oriented politics.
02:38
Candidates have to reach 90 colleges, so they can't do it without the posters, the campaigns.
02:45
It has become a money issue because the poor and the marginalized can't participate in
02:51
the elections because of the use of the cars, the posters.
02:55
Kind of disappointing to see it in Central University, but it is what it is.
03:01
If you could ask one question to the DOSU candidates, what would it be?
03:05
And why?
03:06
When we are getting a clean washroom.
03:08
Why are you investing so much money?
03:11
What's your return on investment on it?
03:13
What will you do after winning or why did you win?
03:18
What is your vision?
03:19
Are you standing for the students only or are you working for the administration of the college?
03:23
Why do you bring so much money and so many cars?
03:25
You can get votes even without a car.
