I'm actually afraid about what India would be after 10 years
00:03
The religion is overpowering all the politics
00:06
I'm completely in awe of the current Prime Minister
00:08
I have really great expectations from the current ruling party
00:11
If not BGP, then who?
00:12
I am at Delhi University's Sriram College of Commerce
00:15
We're going to speak to the students here about the 2024 general elections
00:20
Let's go
00:21
Is it okay if we record your answers?
00:30
Yes, that's fine
00:31
So why does this 2024 general election matter to you?
00:34
I guess living in the biggest democracy of the world
00:37
and saying I'm apolitical doesn't really make sense
00:40
So definitely this election matters because
00:43
it determines what's going to be with my future
00:45
What we see mostly is dirty politics, dirty allegations
00:49
We don't see a lot of constructive politics happening around the corner
00:53
which generally makes it less interesting for students like us
00:56
to engage in these political matters in the first place
01:00
But yeah, I'd be willing to vote
01:02
This election is going to decide the track upon which India is going to be
01:05
there for the next 25 years or so
01:07
as our Prime Minister Modi had called
01:09
that in the phase of 2022-2047 is going to be of Amrit Kaal
01:13
If we see Awas Yojana, such policies were there even before 2014
01:18
But the way government has implemented it
01:20
and made sure that these policies reach to the grassroot level
01:23
especially in UP, I have to say
01:25
the way law and order improved over time
01:28
it was completely something that my parents never saw before
01:32
The way the public policy making has changed
01:34
it has become more people-centric
01:36
rather than the bureaucrat-centric
01:38
which was a problem earlier
01:39
I'm really very eager to see that
01:41
what sort of issues are being raised up by the leaders
01:45
So what kind of issues do you want them to raise?
01:47
The manufacturing sector, education and science and technology
01:50
These are the three key sectors where I feel
01:52
the government has to put more emphasis upon
01:55
to become the big elephant as I have said
01:57
The topics that I will look into in these elections will be
02:00
what improvements will be done in our education sector
02:03
what improvements are being done for the universities, for the colleges
02:07
and particularly NEP if I talk about it
02:09
currently what we are suffering is that 75% attendance is compulsory
02:12
Enhancement is compulsory
02:14
We have our own commitments
02:15
and at the end of the day we just get exhausted about that
02:18
I at this level don't know what's going on and what's not
02:21
and I don't know what's true and what's not
02:23
I don't think so I'm voting this year
02:25
I'm really looking forward to the upcoming elections
02:27
because this is the first time that I'll be casting a vote
02:29
Currently I'm completely in awe of the current Prime Minister
02:32
and whatever we have achieved over the past several years
02:36
Recently we had seen the G20 Summit which was hosted in Delhi
02:39
and India has built a great reputation all over the world
02:43
and I have really great expectations from the current ruling party
02:46
It does not matter to me particularly
02:48
everyone knows who is going to win this election
02:50
so what's the point of having an election
02:51
If not BGP then who?
02:53
So basically this answer I'm going to look for in the upcoming elections
02:57
Democracy can be only followed through elections
02:59
but one thing that I feel about is that
03:01
there is no other party in the opposition
03:04
that can come into play
03:06
as compared to the party that is in the power right now
03:09
If we will be having elections for example
03:11
there are some events that happened
03:13
What events are you talking about?
03:15
So the inauguration of Ram Mandir
03:17
So that is something that can definitely influence
03:19
because people won't think much about it
03:21
because the one who did it
03:23
so they won't think
03:25
and he has done some good work in creating good relations as well
03:30
We don't know which party will rule, which party will win
03:33
but we know one thing for sure
03:34
that till the time the country has trust in the democratic way
03:37
and the democratic elections
03:38
we have very less chances of having a monopolistic way
03:41
Our vote will count
03:42
It's with us that the power is to elect our leaders
03:52
Where do you see India in the next 10 years?
03:54
India has to work a lot to become an economic superpower
03:58
and we should become the second largest global economy
04:01
in the next 10 years or so
04:03
We need to become a manufacturing hub
04:05
If you want to see real progress
04:07
we need to uplift the backward societies
04:09
and not focus only on the infrastructure and development
04:12
Unemployment, inflation, corruption still exist in India
04:15
If we only make infrastructure, education
04:18
like the national education policy was implemented for students right
04:21
but no one came to the ground and asked us
04:23
if it's really helping us
04:25
because earlier there were 4 courses
04:26
now we have to stay in college till 5 o'clock
04:28
and study all the courses and handle everything with studies
04:31
and the courses are not adding any value
04:33
India would improve on major forefronts
04:36
be it the international, be it the
04:38
improving the wealth of the poor
04:40
or the disparity that exists in the society
04:44
or also the security of the women
04:46
I'm actually afraid about what India would be after 10 years
04:50
because seeing the current situation
04:52
the religion is overpowering all the politics
04:55
and all the government and the constitution
04:57
Certain friends of mine from certain religious communities
04:59
they are afraid to live especially in North India
05:01
who have come to North India for their studies
05:03
from other states
05:05
The government has to handle it in a very safe way
05:08
Other issues like if someone is doing protest
05:10
he is Khalistani or anti-government
05:12
if some students are doing so
05:14
they are anti-nationals
05:15
they are like anti-Hindus
05:17
In the upcoming 10 years I think that
05:19
these problems won't be there
05:21
or maybe it would be solved
05:23
because I think they will understand that
05:25
these are the useless things
05:26
India should not be perceived as a place
05:29
where we can find cheap labour
05:31
India should be perceived as a place
05:33
where we can find skilled labour
05:35
India should be the one whose voice should be followed
05:38
India should work on improvisation of the social dynamics as well
05:42
whether it would be the gender bias
05:44
whether it would be LGBTQ
05:46
or the communist violence that we have seen in so many states
