00:03The religion is overpowering all the politics

00:06I'm completely in awe of the current Prime Minister

00:08I have really great expectations from the current ruling party

00:11If not BGP, then who?

00:12I am at Delhi University's Sriram College of Commerce

00:15We're going to speak to the students here about the 2024 general elections

00:20Let's go

00:30Yes, that's fine

00:31So why does this 2024 general election matter to you?

00:34I guess living in the biggest democracy of the world

00:37and saying I'm apolitical doesn't really make sense

00:40So definitely this election matters because

00:43it determines what's going to be with my future

00:45What we see mostly is dirty politics, dirty allegations

00:49We don't see a lot of constructive politics happening around the corner

00:53which generally makes it less interesting for students like us

00:56to engage in these political matters in the first place

01:00But yeah, I'd be willing to vote

01:02This election is going to decide the track upon which India is going to be

01:05there for the next 25 years or so

01:07as our Prime Minister Modi had called

01:09that in the phase of 2022-2047 is going to be of Amrit Kaal

01:13If we see Awas Yojana, such policies were there even before 2014

01:18But the way government has implemented it

01:20and made sure that these policies reach to the grassroot level

01:23especially in UP, I have to say

01:25the way law and order improved over time

01:28it was completely something that my parents never saw before

01:32The way the public policy making has changed

01:34it has become more people-centric

01:36rather than the bureaucrat-centric

01:38which was a problem earlier

01:39I'm really very eager to see that

01:41what sort of issues are being raised up by the leaders

01:45So what kind of issues do you want them to raise?

01:47The manufacturing sector, education and science and technology

01:50These are the three key sectors where I feel

01:52the government has to put more emphasis upon

01:55to become the big elephant as I have said

01:57The topics that I will look into in these elections will be

02:00what improvements will be done in our education sector

02:03what improvements are being done for the universities, for the colleges

02:07and particularly NEP if I talk about it

02:09currently what we are suffering is that 75% attendance is compulsory

02:12Enhancement is compulsory

02:14We have our own commitments

02:15and at the end of the day we just get exhausted about that

02:18I at this level don't know what's going on and what's not

02:21and I don't know what's true and what's not

02:23I don't think so I'm voting this year

02:25I'm really looking forward to the upcoming elections

02:27because this is the first time that I'll be casting a vote

02:29Currently I'm completely in awe of the current Prime Minister

02:32and whatever we have achieved over the past several years

02:36Recently we had seen the G20 Summit which was hosted in Delhi

02:39and India has built a great reputation all over the world

02:43and I have really great expectations from the current ruling party

02:46It does not matter to me particularly

02:48everyone knows who is going to win this election

02:50so what's the point of having an election

02:51If not BGP then who?

02:53So basically this answer I'm going to look for in the upcoming elections

02:57Democracy can be only followed through elections

02:59but one thing that I feel about is that

03:01there is no other party in the opposition

03:04that can come into play

03:06as compared to the party that is in the power right now

03:09If we will be having elections for example

03:11there are some events that happened

03:13What events are you talking about?

03:15So the inauguration of Ram Mandir

03:17So that is something that can definitely influence

03:19because people won't think much about it

03:21because the one who did it

03:23so they won't think

03:25and he has done some good work in creating good relations as well

03:30We don't know which party will rule, which party will win

03:33but we know one thing for sure

03:34that till the time the country has trust in the democratic way

03:37and the democratic elections

03:38we have very less chances of having a monopolistic way

03:41Our vote will count

03:42It's with us that the power is to elect our leaders

03:52Where do you see India in the next 10 years?

03:54India has to work a lot to become an economic superpower

03:58and we should become the second largest global economy

04:01in the next 10 years or so

04:03We need to become a manufacturing hub

04:05If you want to see real progress

04:07we need to uplift the backward societies

04:09and not focus only on the infrastructure and development

04:12Unemployment, inflation, corruption still exist in India

04:15If we only make infrastructure, education

04:18like the national education policy was implemented for students right

04:21but no one came to the ground and asked us

04:23if it's really helping us

04:25because earlier there were 4 courses

04:26now we have to stay in college till 5 o'clock

04:28and study all the courses and handle everything with studies

04:31and the courses are not adding any value

04:33India would improve on major forefronts

04:36be it the international, be it the

04:38improving the wealth of the poor

04:40or the disparity that exists in the society

04:44or also the security of the women

04:46I'm actually afraid about what India would be after 10 years

04:50because seeing the current situation

04:52the religion is overpowering all the politics

04:55and all the government and the constitution

04:57Certain friends of mine from certain religious communities

04:59they are afraid to live especially in North India

05:01who have come to North India for their studies

05:03from other states

05:05The government has to handle it in a very safe way

05:08Other issues like if someone is doing protest

05:10he is Khalistani or anti-government

05:12if some students are doing so

05:14they are anti-nationals

05:15they are like anti-Hindus

05:17In the upcoming 10 years I think that

05:19these problems won't be there

05:21or maybe it would be solved

05:23because I think they will understand that

05:25these are the useless things

05:26India should not be perceived as a place

05:29where we can find cheap labour

05:31India should be perceived as a place

05:33where we can find skilled labour

05:35India should be the one whose voice should be followed

05:38India should work on improvisation of the social dynamics as well

05:42whether it would be the gender bias

05:44whether it would be LGBTQ

05:46or the communist violence that we have seen in so many states
