01:53I was just in regards to Mayo and his coaching, the field product.

01:57By half time, I was outside rigging leaves.

02:00I'm sure a lot of people in the room were doing that.

02:02If you're looking for a fan base as this sport is growing internationally

02:07and as kids are getting into the sport

02:09and you want people to be Patriots fans, at what point do you cut the cord on Mayo?

02:14And I think, honestly, if it's not happening in the season with Kraft,

02:18it's not going to happen in the offseason.

02:21Everyone knew, NFL Network, the whole media,

02:23knew that he was kind of a hand-picked coach by Kraft,

02:26and I think he wants to maintain that, whether it be illusion or not,

02:29that he's kind of in charge of the decision-making there.

02:33Yeah, so, Dan, I mean, he came out before the—

02:35we were talking about the Rodgers game earlier in the show.

02:37He came out before that game on Amazon

02:39and was bragging about how five years ago he knew Mayo was the guy

02:42and on the trip to Israel, and that was when he wanted to bring him in.

02:46And we know he had in writing a year ahead of time,

02:49perhaps longer than that,

02:50that he was going to be the coach to take over for Bill Belichick.

02:53So that is all about Kraft.

02:54I think, Keith, there's a shift from you on Mayo with the team.

02:59Maybe I'm incorrect.

03:01You've said before, you're fine moving on from Mayo.

03:03I'm fine moving on from Mayo.

03:04Oh, yeah.

03:05Do you think the team will realistically look at it this offseason?

03:08Has it gotten that bad, or is it just still you talking,

03:10not what you think the team will do?

03:11So I think Robert Kraft has to look at it.

03:14I think he really does.

03:16Now, there's a couple things.

03:17One, do you want to be the team, just in general,

03:20that fires your coach after one year?

03:22He was very proud about how he has only hired three coaches in his time,

03:25right?

03:26Yeah.

03:27And he's like, I've been coaching a lot.

03:28I've been on the team for a long time, only had three coaches.

03:31The guy he just fired was here for over 20.

03:34So he kind of took all – you hired Pete Carroll,

03:36he was here for three years, then he was gone.

03:38Made the team worse each year.

03:39And then you got Bill Belichick, who was great for 20 years,

03:42or give or take 20 years.

03:44And now you have this guy, who you love,

03:45and you compare him to choosing a wife.

03:48So I think that is such a strong bond.

03:50I probably still wouldn't bet on him being fired after one year.

03:55I think that Robert Kraft having to go back on so many things that he has said.

03:59However, you have to worry about damaging the –

04:01I think the caller's right about that, though.

04:03You don't want to look panicky and you want to be the patient,

04:06owner, and all these things, and that's fine.

04:08But now you're staring down the barrel of damaging your brand.

04:12And bringing back Mayo has the potential to do that.

04:15That's why I think – I think he's going to look at it this offseason.

04:18It would not shock me at all if Mayo is fired.

04:20Do you think him not making the Hall of Fame has any impact on this decision?

04:24Like positive, negative, or no?

04:28Because I wonder if he's just like –

04:29If he was going into the Hall of Fame, would that make him,

04:31oh, I'm this magnanimous guy and I'm patient and I take my time?

04:35Or maybe just like less of a push to get your team super relevant again.

04:38I see. Good point.

04:40I wonder if he's like, man, if I can somehow –

04:42If I had to pick one or the other.

04:43I don't know how much of a difference it makes,

04:44but if I had to pick one or the other,

04:45I'd say it makes him more likely to make a rash decision.

04:49I think just the way – it's obviously very important to him

04:53and missed it once again.

04:55And, oh, by the way, his team might be picking in the top three again.

04:59And so would you rather be on primetime all the time and showing you?

05:03And every time they show the owner's box for 20 years,

05:06it was usually celebrating another conference championship,

05:09Super Bowl victory, whatever.

05:11Now every time they show him and Jonathan in the box, it's,

05:13oh, you're down 21-0.

05:15Oh, you're down 28-0.

05:16Oh, your team just turned it over.

05:18Oh, another penalty.

05:19Like you're overseeing this horrible operation right now.

05:23So I think the need to see it turn around I think is probably heightened.

05:43well, if we won yesterday's game, the whole narrative would change.

05:47If you won yesterday's game, like you played in the NFL.

08:06He says this Pats game is indescribable.

08:08It's like a 2024 greatest hits compilation of all the bad coaching,

08:12dumb plays, scared coaching, and inexplicable penalties this year.

08:17This team is getting worse.

08:18Kraft will do nothing and bring everyone back.

08:21No way he pays two coaches.

08:22It's how he finishes that.

08:23But like Simmons is eviscerating them every Sunday is pretty entertaining.

08:27I think he's spot on too about the scared coaching.

08:30Every team is the same.

08:31So if your team has, you know,

08:33is fighting for a playoff spot and it's a scoreless game and you want to

08:36play field position, I get it.

08:38I'm not, you know, I'm not.

08:45But for this team, why not fourth in a yard?

08:58So I think they should overall go for it a lot more now,
