This Christmas, obviously loads of prices for things have gone up. Are you scaling back this Christmas?
00:06
No, to be honest. No, I don't really tend to spend that much over Christmas anyway.
00:13
So I've got quite a small family, so no is the answer.
00:17
Not massively, but I think everyone's feeling a little bit of a pinch.
00:21
So we will still be doing all the normal stuff, but not massively, no.
00:27
Yes, I'm technically cutting back this year.
00:30
So my family started doing a secret Santa a couple of years ago,
00:34
and it means that instead of buying seven presents, I buy one.
00:37
So it's probably better for the environment, but it also just costs less.
00:41
With Christmas often comes time to spend money on social activities
00:47
such as staff Christmas parties and friend gatherings.
00:50
So many locals are finding cheaper alternatives,
00:54
including visiting Christmas markets and visiting Christmas lights.
00:59
But are locals scaling back for their socialising this winter?
01:06
Have you noticed that the price of a lot of things such as, you know,
01:09
your Christmas parties have gone up this year?
01:12
Yeah, everything seems to have gone up a bit. It's not a...
01:16
Yeah, it's not a small consideration.
01:20
I think it's everyone's feeling that it's noticeable.
01:24
Even just the cost of sort of general basics has gone up.
01:27
So just the cost of like the Christmas dinner has gone up by sort of a sum.
01:34
I haven't noticed it yet.
01:36
I have noticed that people are really reluctant to pay up front to do a Christmas do.
01:40
And so basically attendance at the work Christmas do this year is going to be really low,
01:44
which is a bit of a shame because I like Christmasy events,
01:47
but ideally we'd like one that's free.
01:51
Yeah, definitely. Prices for everything are going up.
01:54
So I think, yeah, definitely need to be a little bit more aware.
01:57
But yeah.
