00:14business dealings were investigated following his failure to pay more than $200,000 in income taxes

00:21between 2017 and 2018. The deal will also help him avoid felony firearm charges stemming from

00:27his illegal possession of a handgun for 11 days in 2018. Some Republicans, such as former

00:34President Donald Trump, Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized the

00:39plea deal, saying the system is broken and likening it to a sweetheart deal. If Hunter

00:44fails to uphold his side of the plea agreement, he faces up to 10 years in prison. Officials at

00:49Biden's 2024 re-election campaign declined to comment on the plea deal, but legal experts
