00:06The crown features an array of diamonds, pearls, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies.

00:10Two notable gems come from the largest uncut diamond ever discovered. It was found in a

00:15private mine in South Africa in 1905 and was reportedly the size of a human heart.

00:20One of the stones is known as the Great Star of Africa and is set in the Sovereign Scepter.

00:25The other, cut from the same diamond, is known as the Second Star of Africa and is

00:29mounted in the imperial crown. The British monarchy claims it was bought by South Africa's

00:33government while under British rule and presented to King Edward VII as a gift.

00:38Many have called for the diamonds to be returned.

00:40Receiving a stolen diamond does not exonerate the receiver,

00:44said University of South Africa professor Evaristo Bagneri.
