Invasive green iguanas are causing serious agricultural damage in Taiwan as their population spreads north. The government is now teaming up with residents to remove the animals.

00:04The lizards have been inflicting ecological and agricultural damage on southern Taiwan's

00:09Pingtung County for over a decade.

00:11An estimated 200-thousand are now damaging farms in central Taiwan's Yulin County.

00:17The government is urging residents to help them remove the iguanas.

00:20They aim to cull 120-thousand next year.

00:25We have found the whereabouts of the lizards in the Yulin Coastal Area.

00:28The Yulin County Government will call on experts to help us deal with the situation.

00:33We are also looking for people who are interested in participating in the culling process.

00:41Green iguanas are native to Central and South America and were introduced to Taiwan as pets

00:47in the early 2000s.

00:48They have no natural predators here.
