There were Jedi's, Wookies, Stormtroopers and even Darth Vader on show at a free event celebrating "Geek" culture at the Mander Centre over the weekend

00:09in Wolverhampton over the course of this weekend. Anyone who loves Star Wars, Star Trek, Ghostbusters,

00:15anything to do with geek culture can come here and indulge themselves. There's a shop,

00:20there's exhibitions over there. I'm here with the event organiser, Laura Taylor. Tell us

00:24a bit about what's happening today.

00:26So it's a pretty neat event that we put on each year. This is our fourth year at Geek

00:30Con. So we have prop displays that people can pose at. We've got cosplayers, like UK

00:35Garrison, Central Legion. People can come up dressed up as well. We've got lots of geeky

00:40trainers and then we've got retro gaming and D&D sessions inside our community.

00:44It's all about engaging people within the idea of geek culture, isn't it?

00:47Exactly, yeah. So comic conventions are usually really expensive to attend, £40, £50, £60

00:52for the tickets. So we've had to put on something a bit smaller but free for everyone to enjoy.

00:56And what's the reaction so far?

00:57It's really good, yeah. Every year it gets better and better. So I think people get to

01:01know about it and just really look out for everything.

01:04And what would be the biggest thing that you'd want people to see this weekend? What's the

01:08one thing you'd say, come and see this?

01:10I just want people to enjoy it and to realise that the centre does this sort of thing for

01:15free and that we've got all the shops and all the easeries to enjoy as well.

01:22Well, Wednesday's my favourite at the moment so that's why I requested the weekend.
