Deepfake attacks occurred at a rate of one every five minutes this year, while digital document forgery surpassed physical counterfeits as the leading method of fraud for the first time.

00:12lifelike deepfakes has enabled fraudsters to carry out increasingly sophisticated identity

00:17scams. Financial services became the primary target for fraudsters this year,

00:21according to the report, overtaking gambling for the first time. Cryptocurrency platforms

00:26were hit hardest, with fraudulent activity doubling as soaring crypto prices made the

00:31sector highly attractive to attackers. Lending and mortgage services and traditional banks were

00:36also heavily targeted, driven by rising scams linked to inflation and borrowing.

00:40For the first time, digital forgeries outpaced physical counterfeits as the most common method

00:45of document fraud, accounting for 57% of cases. This marks a 244% increase from 2023 and a
