00:29It closed with new records at the international event dedicated to Green and Circular Economy,

00:35organized by Italian Exhibition Group at the Fiera di Rimini.

01:11Ecomundo has been demonstrating its growth for years now,

01:15and the reason is probably due to the fact that,

01:18first of all, Italy is an important country in the circular economy sector,

01:23which is growing at an important rate, 6% more than last year.

01:29It is positioned very well on the issue of recycling.

01:33We are at 72% against a European average of 65%.

01:39And we also have the promise that in the next few years, until 2030,

01:47probably about 300,000 jobs will be created through the circular economy.

01:53Ecomundo is the collector of all this knowledge.

01:57It is the place that has become a leader in Europe and in the Mediterranean basin

02:04on the issue of green economy and circular economy.

02:09The novelty compared to this year is the whole issue of climate change prevention.

02:16The use of big data, artificial intelligence and monitoring

02:22will be the essential tools to prevent what we are used to consider as disasters,

02:29which once were extraordinary and are becoming more and more ordinary in our world.

02:36And so Ecomundo is a great opportunity to relaunch the theme of the environment

02:42and the attention that humans must pay to the environment

02:45in order to live in harmony on this planet.

02:50Climate change is part of the current situation we are experiencing.

02:54Hence the action of the institutions on mitigation and adaptation.

02:58On the one hand, we are growing with renewables.

03:01The fact that we have surpassed the fossil fuel energy production during 2024

03:12is a significant fact in the first half of the year.

03:15Then, of course, it is an element, because the goal must be seen in a longer period,

03:20with the goal of 2030 and then 2050.

03:23But we are growing with wind energy, with photovoltaics,

03:27we are renewing the geothermal concessions of a new generation.

03:32And so the path, the road is this, on the front of mitigation,

03:37we must take into account that we are in the middle of the Mediterranean,

03:40the Mediterranean is one of the warmest seas,

03:42the contrast is such that what we thought should never happen,

03:48or could happen every few hundred years,

03:51unfortunately is much more frequent.

03:52We must run with adaptation and repair as quickly as possible.

03:57On the one hand, many small maintenance works are necessary,

04:43The press conference of the new manual of the Italian Association of Boxfactory

04:48for the packaging of wavy cardboard was held in the Chamber of Deputies.

04:53Wavy cardboard is an effective response to the growing European Union

04:58issues of packaging sustainability.

05:00Its characteristics in terms of recyclability and circularity

05:04already make it one of the packaging materials with the least environmental impact.

05:08The sector is facing the new challenges related to the design of packaging

05:13that are more easily recyclable, accessible

05:16and to reduce waste along the production chain.

05:19This manual is a work that comes from a research

05:24that our association has done in the sector

05:26and it aims to encourage the culture of the sector

05:30and to explain to all the interlocutors of our sector

05:33the peculiarities of our production.

05:36Our association represents the wavy cardboard transformation companies,

05:41the typical Italian PMI that operate throughout the national sector

05:46and today they have more than 350 companies and 5,000 members.

05:49The association, which represents a sector with a total turnover of more than 1.2 billion euros

05:56and which offers jobs to thousands of people throughout the national territory,

06:00continues to actively promote the concept of circular economy

06:03and the reduction of environmental impact.

06:06In Italy, more than 80% of the raw materials used for the production of cardboard

06:11come from recycled paper.

06:13Comieco's 29th annual report

06:15highlights a recycling rate of cell packaging

06:19of 92.3% in 2023,

06:22a level that far exceeds the objectives set by the EU for 2030.

06:26In addition, more than 90% of the virgin fibre used by the European paper industry

06:32comes from European forestry in expansion,

06:34of which more than 70% is FSC certified.

06:38This shows the importance of a responsible and sustainable industry

06:42in continuous growth.
