00:00The government has moved away from the traditional B40, M40, T20 income group classifications

00:05when giving out financial assistance, replacing it with an improved system called Basic Expenditure

00:11of Decent Living, or PAKW. But how is PAKW different from the old system?

00:18For one, PAKW aims to deliver targeted aid by assessing an individual's net disposable income,

00:24which refers to the amount of money remaining after expenses such as taxes,

00:28child support, and loans have been deducted. This new system also highlighted the government's

00:33efforts to elevate the living standards of Malaysians. To lead a decent life,

00:38Putrajaya has determined that a household must be able to afford not only basic necessities,

00:43but also personal needs and opportunities to participate in community activities.
