00:00A landslide is expected in the Cordillera region due to the continuous rainfall caused by the typhoons

00:06as well as the small-scale mining being monitored.

00:11This is Jorton Campana of PTV Cordillera in the center of the news.

00:17Because of the continuous typhoons, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau noticed that the soil is saturated or softened.

00:25This is why there is a high chance of soil erosion in the Cordillera region due to the recent typhoons.

00:31According to the MGB, more than 10,000 barangays in the region are affected by landslides and floods,

00:38the most in Benguet with 239,

00:41the second largest in Abra with 174,

00:44Ifugao with 156,

00:47Mountain Province with 129,

00:49Apayao with 124,

00:51and Calinga with 104 barangays.

00:54This is why the MGB is appealing to stop all small-scale mining activities in the Cordillera region

01:01now that the weather is getting worse.

01:03We advise them not to enter their areas of work

01:09because we cannot say that the weather is really affecting their areas of work.

01:18In Benguet, landslide hazards were declared

01:22because of the continuous operations of small-scale mining.

01:25Mayor Bernard Joaquin ordered the miners to stop mining

01:30to avoid any incidents.

01:33The barangay officials and the police were ordered to monitor the safety of the residents.

01:39All of these are responsible for their small-scale work.

01:43I hope they will be careful.

01:45Also, I hope they will not enter their areas of work because we know that there will be two or three typhoons.

01:54In Barangay Virac, a part of the mountain was hit by a typhoon.

01:59Stones fell that affected several houses and nearby schools.

02:04Residents were careful to remove the stones and to dig a hole in the river

02:11to avoid further damage.

02:13Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development continues to distribute aid

02:19to the families affected by the next typhoons.

02:23The agency has already given more than 2.30 million pesos of humanitarian assistance

02:29and more than 94 million pesos of their available relief resources

02:34for the effects of the Typhoon Tipito.

02:37More than 8,000 families or 24,000 people were affected by the next typhoons Nica and Ofel.

02:45Almost 300 houses were also damaged by the typhoon.

02:49The DSWD Cordillera also receives donations from private individuals or groups

02:55that will be distributed to the affected households.

02:58Clothes, diapers for children, bottled water, hygiene and sanitation kit,

03:05sleeping kit, kitchen kit, and cash can also be donated.

03:09When it comes to disasters, our central office really gives

03:13to our Secretary-General, Rex Gatchalian,

03:19that there is a sufficient budget for the disaster.

03:23Because we all know that the Philippines is under the Typhoon Belt.

03:27Following the declaration of the State of Calamity in Apayau,

03:31along with the love fund Cordillera,

03:33their Calamity Loan to the members, especially those whose houses were damaged,

03:38is 5.95% of the annual interest rate of the agency's Calamity Loan.

03:43They can apply for a Calamity Loan.

03:46Since Apayau is covered by Region 2,

03:49they can go directly to our office in Tuguegarao.

03:54But since the love fund is filed anywhere, we can accommodate here in Baguio Branch.

03:59Because of the typhoon Pipito that is expected to pass through Luzon next week,

04:04the authorities will strictly remind the public

04:08to follow the regulations for a safe community.
