Police intervene during Audi Brussels negotiations between unions and management

Management of Audi Brussels called in the police after workers protested the rejection of their counter-proposal, demanding "fair compensation" as the plant's closure puts thousands of jobs at risk.

00:06Workers say their counter-proposal for the social plan was rejected, so they were peacefully

00:10showing their discontent when they entered the meeting room, at which point the management

00:15called for help to be escorted out of the facility.

00:18The Belgian police arrived on the scene with batons, helmets and shields.

00:45The social plan is in connection with the scheduled closure of the plant at the end

00:48of February.

00:49A total of nearly 4,000 workers will be unemployed because of the closure.

00:53Protests and negotiations have been ongoing for some time, but a final deal has not been

00:57reached.
