Taking a trip on the new fleet of electric trains stopping in Walsall

Earlier this week I took a trip on the new fleet of electric trains - part of West Midlands Railway’s £1billion investment - which are in use on the Walsall-Wolverhampton via Birmingham route, as well as on the Rugeley-Birmingham International route, calling at Walsall.

00:05to have a look at West Midland Railway's new electric fleet. It's part of a £1BN investment.

00:11They promise to be more comfortable, more roomy, and generally just a bit better for

00:14the environment. So we're going to have a look inside and see what they're like.

00:30My name's Naomi, I'm 19, I'm from Walsall, and I use the train pretty often to get to

00:39and from university. I'm very happy to see the development of electric trains because

00:43I care a lot about the environment, and I think this is a great step forward to more

00:49transport that's just better for the environment.

00:51I'm Ben, I'm 24, I'm from Darleston, and I get 4 trains a week from Walsall to Northampton

00:57So my thoughts on the implementation of electric trains are that it's going to be really good.

01:01I like the idea of there being more legroom, more space, more seats, you know what I mean,

01:04make it more comfortable for people. And then the use of electric trains, it's going to

01:07have such a good impact on the environment as well, which I think is something we need

01:10to focus on really.

01:12My name is Jack, I'm 28, I'm from Willingham. I'm happy with electric trains. They're convenient,

01:19efficient, and in terms of commuting from place to place, it's quite quick and easy

01:26accessible. And the impact of these environment friendly electric trains, I feel like it's

01:39clean, and in terms of the comfort and that, it's efficient enough for people to enjoy.
