00:07Leeds City Council. They're planning to scrap free parking at Wilderness and Station Gardens in
00:12Wetherby, Barley Hill Road in Garforth, Marsh Street in Rothwell, Neverfield Road in Guiseley
00:18and here at Fink Hill in Horsforth. A consultation was launched in December last year with 84 to 96
00:25percent of respondents opposed to charges and thousands signing petitions against the move.
00:30The council is seeking to press ahead with charges which will be in place between 8am to 6pm
00:35Monday to Saturday as it faces a multi-million pound budget gap. Blue badge holders will be
00:40exempt and payments will be made by bank card or mobile phone app with card payments including a
00:4515 pence fee. A council report said cash payments are not proposed due to the problem of theft and
00:51vandalism. One hour parking would be free then £1.15 for two hours rising to a daily maximum of £3.65.
