How widespread is online abuse in the EU?

Young Europeans are still hugely exposed to online hate speech.

In 2023, almost half of the EU population aged 16 to 29 came across online messages

considered to be hostile towards groups of people or individuals.

The highest rates were found in Estonia, Denmark, Finland, France and Slovakia.

12 out of the 23 countries with available data recorded shares above 50%.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria
