The Australian prime minister described America's relationship with Australia as being that of 'old allies and true friends, and said his government would 'strive to strengthen co-operation between our two nations'.

00:24above all, enduring respect and affection between our peoples.

00:29I look forward to talking with President Trump and working with him in the interests

00:33of both of our nations.

00:35President Trump has run a campaign based on change and he's made it clear he's going

00:40to do things differently, so we shouldn't be surprised if things change.

00:44But equally, we should be really confident in ourselves and our place in the world as

00:51well and our ability to deliver on our interests together as Australians.
