Malaysian peacekeepers depart for Lebanon amidst rising conflict, says Defence Minister

00:00We are the soldiers of the Republic of Indonesia

00:10Today we have four voices.

00:14The first voice is on the 6th of the month,

00:16the second voice is on the 10th of the month,

00:19the third voice is on the 14th of the month,

00:21and the fourth voice is on the 18th of the month.

00:23Our force is a total of 854 officers and LLTs,

00:29including a civilian officer

00:32and 30 members of the Royal Indonesian Army.

00:39Based on the training we have undergone

00:43for three months,

00:45one month for service training

00:49and two months under the auspices of the joint force,

00:53we have been described as fit for mission to Lebanon.

00:58Our duty in the army is to train for war

01:03and to carry out our duties under the PBB mission.

01:08So there is no problem for us to be deployed anywhere.

01:12We bear the good name of Malaysia,

01:14which is currently under a humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.

01:20Even now, the situation there is a bit tense

01:25and we hope that the situation there will be a bit better

01:29so that we can carry out our duties

01:32that have been given to us by the UNIFIL

01:34to carry out our security duties.

01:36In terms of the threat posed by land challenges,

01:42through land passages,

01:46they have been instructed from time to time

01:48to take action

01:52and not to carry out their duties

01:58in the areas that are responsible

02:01and also not to carry out logistical tasks.

02:06We are only worried if there is an air strike.

02:09When there is an air strike, we cannot have peace.

02:12But thank God,

02:14lately there is no more air strike,

02:17apparently from Israel.

02:18He is also there,

02:21he is also the new Minister of Defense.

02:24So in Israel, God knows what will happen.

02:27When we go to carry out our duties and missions,

02:33we are given instructions to ensure safety.

02:40That is also the main thing that needs to be given attention to.

02:45And they are also tested psychologically

02:48so that they are ready to carry out their missions and duties.

02:53Our area is not really at the border between Lebanon and Israel.

02:59We are a little above,

03:01and we are surrounded in the south, east and west

03:05by security forces from other countries.

03:09So if anything happens,

03:11if the challenge comes from land,

03:14they need to go through the security forces

03:18in the south, east or west.

03:21We are in the middle of it.
