Now we go back to LA where our correspondent Luis Gutierrez is ready to join us.
00:06
Hello Luis, please tell us what you know from there and what are the latest updates?
00:14
Hi, I'm from San Luis, California.
00:18
We are only a few minutes away before the polls close in the States.
00:23
Right behind me is one of the polls, the one at the Silver Lake Library in the east of Los Angeles.
00:31
As we know, California is the most populated state of the U.S.
00:38
Because of this, it will be probably one of the last ones where we will get results.
00:45
And also because it is one of the ones that will be closing the polls last.
00:51
So we won't really be able to know exactly who is the winner of this state for a few days.
01:01
We won't have a final winner.
01:03
However, we do know that this state has historically been a democratic state,
01:08
a state that votes for the Democratic Party and it is not likely to change today.
01:16
Okay, Luis, and I would like to ask you about what are the streets like right now?
01:21
What's the feeling of the people?
01:23
What can you tell us about how these polls that are closing right now,
01:29
how the centers are closing right now, how is that affecting, how can you feel the ambience?
01:35
We have results from wider parts of the states.
01:40
Wider parts of the states.
01:41
Of course, the West Coast is the last part of the country to close its centers
01:47
and it will be the last to offer results.
01:50
So how are people following this election process at this moment?
01:57
Yes, well, the entire day in Los Angeles has been relatively calm.
02:02
People have been voting the entire day.
02:05
They just have been, you know, in different times of the day.
02:10
There were larger or smaller crowds in the morning.
02:14
We saw a big number of people voting before going to work.
02:18
Then we had a lot of people also going during their lunch break.
02:21
And it seems that after 5, 6 p.m. there was a large crowd as well of people leaving work.
02:28
And right now, as I was saying, we're only like five minutes away before these polls close.
02:35
We just see people coming in very calmly to deposit their votes.
02:39
Some of them are not even going inside the polls.
02:41
They're using some of the mailboxes that are installed outside of the polling stations.
02:47
And I think what will come next at 8 p.m., after all the voting is done,
02:52
and what has already begun in several parts of the city, are watch parties.
02:56
And that is where people are going to be following the results of this election.
03:01
Because knowing that the state will likely vote for Kamala Harris as the next president
03:07
for the United States, they will still be following their results through the night,
03:15
hoping to find out who is the winner.
03:22
Excellent, Luis.
03:23
So just one more thing.
03:25
What are, have you been talking to colleagues from other parts of the country?
03:32
What are they saying in just other regions?
03:36
Of course, we know that many of the states in the West Coast,
03:41
that we do not have results for them so far.
03:44
They are assumed to be voting Democrat just because of tendencies and also polls.
03:51
But we have results from other parts of the country.
03:54
And I would like to ask you if you have a general feel of what these results could look like.
04:02
Yes, of course.
04:03
Well, the main point of attention right now outside, in the other side of the country,
04:09
is those three states that are part of the so-called blue wall that the Democrats have
04:16
managed to hold in the, or like that Joe Biden managed to hold to the last election.
04:22
That gives him the victory, which are Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and, sorry, I'm about to forget.
04:34
Well, these three states are the ones that could give Kamala Harris the win.
04:40
So far, it seems that Donald Trump might be actually winning.
04:50
They haven't been able to call any of these.
04:52
Most of these three states have not been able to call.
04:54
The closest one to being called has been Georgia.
04:57
And Arizona has actually been one of the other ones that could be giving us results very soon.
05:06
The polls in Arizona closed an hour earlier than in Los Angeles.
05:10
In California, sorry.
05:13
Excellent.
05:13
Thank you, Luis, for bringing us your input and this update.
05:18
And we hope to continue throughout this night and also in the complete coverage of
05:23
Telusor English to continue having your intakes as we follow this electoral process.
