Considering the upcoming 4.6% increase in rail fares and the 17% hike in railcard costs, how do you think these changes will affect the overall affordability of using trains? Do you believe the rising costs make train travel too expensive for the average person?

00:00I think any rail fare increases, and they seem to be an annual event, are unwelcome.

00:07I don't think anyone would say, oh they're good.

00:09I think people would say they're good if they could actually see a tangible benefit from them.

00:14If they could see, not necessarily more trains, but just the reliability.

00:19I might get on the train and hide in a toilet and pretend I've paid.

00:24No, it's terribly sad because I love going to London, I just can't afford to go down there now.

00:28Well I think it's just so sad because I think the working population are getting hammered in everything.

00:35And now they travel, they're saying don't use cars, use the transport.

00:41They've put the bus fares up, now the train fares. How are they supposed to manage?

00:46Certainly as far as the increases are concerned, there's always been more than inflation.

00:51Times are tough anyway and it's putting people off when, if anything, you think if they could at least freeze prices.
