00:00Hi, my name's Jasmine and I am a professional mermaid from Newbury.

00:05So I've been a mermaid for five years now and I would never go back to a normal job

00:10because I absolutely love it. It keeps me fit, creative and the pageant itself,

00:16the finals are held on the 30th in Lincoln at the Arts College and we will do all kinds of

00:23different rounds so there'll be like, you know, like your normal pageant stuff like evening wear,

00:27swimwear round. We also have an eco-creative round so we have to make an outfit that's completely

00:33made of like things that you can find. Because I grew up on the Isle of Wight I was always

00:40in the seas at the beach and just seeing the deterioration in, you know, the less marine

00:47animals that we're seeing and more plastic in the oceans and rivers makes me really sad so

00:54this is why I've joined Miss Ocean World because it's another

00:58really creative platform that we can share and spread awareness about these issues.
