Tail-gating a motorbike

Motorcyclist Sonia van den Berg on what it's like to be tail-gated.

00:00Tailgating when you're riding a motorbike and you've got a car on your tail is just downright frightening.

00:09As a rider, I think that the tailgater is going to run me over.

00:14That's as simple as that.

00:16If I have to slam on the brakes because the car in front of me or the vehicle in front of me has had to do the same thing,

00:23then the tailgater is going to take me out and I won't be alive or I'll be critically injured.

00:31What would you say to drivers?

00:35The standard rule is to stay three seconds behind the vehicle in front and that is a long distance.

00:43We're talking 250 metres at 60 kilometres an hour.
