So we're here at West Brom, Tesco, and what's your name sir?
00:03
Mark Walters.
00:04
So you're, I've got it on the badge, Poppy Peel Organiser?
00:07
For West Bromwich, yes.
00:08
Cool, and Tesco are official partners, is that right?
00:11
So they're doing their bit.
00:12
They do, yes.
00:13
Now, let's get back to basics. Why do we sell poppies?
00:16
We sell poppies in remembrance of the soldiers that died and are still fighting today, and their families.
00:21
Yeah.
00:22
And where does the money go to?
00:23
It goes to the Royal British Legion.
00:25
And that helps...
00:26
That helps serving soldiers and veterans and also their families.
00:31
Got you.
00:32
And you've got your own little army of helpers here today?
00:35
We have, yes. The scouts who've come the last few years, which we're very grateful for.
00:38
Yeah, yeah.
00:39
And just fill us in, there's a few different things people can buy, isn't there?
00:43
Let's have a look at some of the...
00:44
Go on, talk us through your range of products.
00:46
We've got the original poppies.
00:49
We've got the biodegradable ones, as you can tell.
00:52
Oh, okay, yeah.
00:53
We've got the plastic on.
00:54
We've got the crosses, there are a few nationalities, two faiths, and for those we know faith.
01:00
We've got this year's pin badges.
01:03
We've got the crocheted and knitted poppies, which have been given to us by people like supporters,
01:09
who just do them for me every year.
01:11
Am I right in thinking the purple's to remember the animals?
01:14
Animals, yes.
01:15
Pass it, yeah.
01:16
They're not actually British RBL ones, but people knit them for me, and we give all the donations to the RBL.
01:23
Great stuff, yeah.
01:24
And obviously we've got for the kids, the snap bands.
01:26
Yeah.
01:27
We've got ghillie top capes.
01:29
We've got, like, I'll be honest, some of the things I don't even know what they are.
01:33
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:34
And the reflectors, a lot of people put them on the dog collars.
01:37
Ah, useful.
01:38
So you can see the dogs when they're in the door.
01:39
Yeah, yeah, totally.
01:40
And I say, actually, we also have a raffle in.
01:42
Ah, it's a raffle, let's have a look.
01:44
Paddy Cain's match-worn England shirt.
01:46
That'd be a nice one to win, wouldn't it?
01:48
Yeah, it would.
01:49
It's two pound a ticket.
01:51
So when are you kind of positioned here at West Brom Tesco?
01:54
We're right at the front of the store.
01:57
You can't miss this, even in or out.
01:58
Yeah.
01:59
And we're here till the 11th of November this year.
02:02
Great stuff.
02:03
Well, let's catch up with some of the scouts.
02:05
Cheers, buddy.
02:06
So go on, sir.
02:07
Which scout group is it?
02:08
I am 1st Brandall Scout Group.
02:10
1st Brandall, great stuff.
02:11
And we've got a couple of helpers here.
02:13
What's the names of the lads?
02:15
What's your names, lads?
02:16
Jack.
02:17
Jack and?
02:18
Noah.
02:19
Noah, Jack and Noah.
02:20
So you're doing your good deed, aren't you?
02:21
Help it out, then, yeah?
02:23
What's your sales pitch like?
02:25
Have you tried your market pitch?
02:26
You know, come and get one, let's have one.
02:28
No?
02:29
Cash or card?
02:30
Cash or card, yeah.
02:31
Cash or card.
02:32
Cash or card.
02:33
Can you pay on card, then, can you?
02:35
Yes, sir, we can.
02:36
Ah, very useful.
02:37
Very useful.
02:38
So at West Brom Tesco, we've got a big, like, A3, like, board.
02:43
Yeah.
02:44
With a marker, just like, cash or card.
02:46
Cash or card, that's it, that's it.
02:49
Well, thanks, guys, and thanks to everyone for doing your bit.
02:52
Cheers, guys.
02:55
Sir, you've just, you've just made a donation there.
02:58
Why do you feel it's important to make a donation?
03:01
Um, it's just to give back a little bit and to help people with what they've done for people like myself and others out there.
03:09
Yeah.
03:10
I've got a few friends that have been in the service themselves.
03:12
Okay, yeah.
03:13
They've not needed the help yet, but you never know, so.
03:16
So you've got, have you got connections with the services yourself?
03:18
Just through friends and whatnot, yeah.
03:19
Yeah, yeah.
03:20
All right, so you've seen it first hand, the good work that can be done and is needed.
03:24
Well, thank you for your donation today, sir.
03:29
So you were just saying, um, West Brom, it's extremely multicultural, isn't it?
03:33
It's a very multicultural society.
03:35
But everyone donates, everyone gives.
03:37
Everyone of every nationality, every faith, every gender.
03:41
Yeah, West Brom is, to be fair, I'm proud to be from West Brom.
03:45
Yeah, yeah.
03:46
So, it's well worth a couple of hours here, helping out.
03:51
Yeah.
03:52
You'll see.
03:53
See the good in all.
03:54
People and good, it's as simple as that.
03:56
Yeah, yeah.
03:57
You know, there's bad in every, even everybody.
03:59
Yeah.
04:00
But, you know, hopefully, hopefully doing our little bit here, people will see, you know, everyone's the same.
04:05
Yeah.
