In Spain, authorities issued an orange alert in Valencia and several eastern areas due
00:04
to strong rainfall.
00:06
The State Weather Agency said that the country will be experiencing storms in the Mediterranean
00:10
which could cause flooding in several parts of the country, including the areas affected
00:15
by the Danube weather event.
00:16
Authorities also announced that an orange alert will be in force in Murcia and the south
00:22
of Catalonia, as they could be affected by flooding.
00:26
The Emergency Coordination Centre warned that the storms could be accompanied by hail.
00:30
Consent of the movement of non-residents and volunteers will be limited, in at least 11
00:34
municipalities of Valencia affected by the Danube.
00:42
In this context, the King and Queen of Spain were received by those affected by the Danube
00:46
weather event with booing and rejection during a visit to Paiporta municipality.
00:51
During a visit of government authorities to the Valencian community, residents of the
00:55
area threw mud at the Spanish royal family, the Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the
00:59
president of the Valencian government, Carlos Mazón.
01:02
Citizens accused the authorities of being responsible for the deaths that occurred in
01:05
Valencia.
01:06
Likewise, demonstrators called for immediate actions from the government to attend to the
01:10
emergency caused by the Danube.
01:18
In Spain, at least 214 people have died and dozens are still missing due to heavy rains
01:23
and floods derived from the Danube.
01:25
The president, Pedro Sánchez, informed about the disaster caused by the isolated depression
01:30
at high levels in different communities, as well as the actions of the national government
01:34
to help in their recovery.
01:35
The government has given the order to the people of limiting their transit in the affected
01:40
areas.
01:41
It should be noted that the authorities maintain the orange alert in the Balearic Islands.
01:44
In this context, it is going to cause heavy rains and the most devastating floods of the
01:48
last decades in Spain.
01:54
Also in Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that 95% of the electricity supply
01:59
affected by the recent weather event have now been restored in Valencia.
02:03
According to Sánchez, a full recovery is expected by the weekend.
02:07
Approximately 250,000 people are without telephone service and some 15,000 without access to
02:12
electricity and water in the province of Valencia.
02:15
The Spanish army has deployed more than 500 troops in the affected areas to clear the
02:18
streets and search for the missing.
02:21
According to the report, 300 specialists from the General Directorate of Roads have
02:25
been sent to the region to facilitate the reactivation of transport structures.
02:37
We have restored 95% of the electrical supply.
