West Best Bloc Fest has received $67,000 in funding from the Federal Government.

00:00It's going to be able to assist with paying artist fees, you know, it's really critical that we take the art seriously.

00:07This is a profession, it's not a side hustle or a hobby.

00:11It's going to help us move this a few years and years to come.

00:14So our brand, our city, our collaborations with media types, venues, whoever it may be,

00:23we band together and it makes this little festival very, very successful.

00:29Moving forward, we want to turn this city into an internationally recognised musical city.

00:35You see it in Austin, Texas, you see it in New York, you see it in Edinburgh for Fringe Festival,

00:40we'd love to have that here in Newcastle for Music.

00:43And at the end of the day, when it comes to funding, it goes back into the bands,

00:47that goes into the studios and then they have to do an EP or a single release that goes back into the venues.

00:53So my foresight on the whole thing is to create our own economy.
