00:00The opening hole at Sheep Ranch.
00:02This is the best opening hole at all Abandoned Dunes, folks.
00:05And the reason for this is typically
00:07with golf course architecture over in Scotland, in Ireland,
00:10they save the best land, the best property,
00:13the oceanfront property.
00:14Not for a clubhouse, but for the golf holes.
00:16So the clubhouse set back, maybe back in the trees,
00:19a little ways off the coast of the first hole, the 18th hole,
00:23while good holes are not always the most spectacular.
00:25And that's true at Abandoned Dunes, except for here
00:27at the Sheep Ranch.
00:28We've got a 520-yard par 5.
00:31Awesome opening tee shot.
00:33As you can tell, there's a lot of action
00:34in near the clubhouse.
00:35Everybody's walking by.
00:36People got cocktails.
00:38There's a little bit of trouble right.
00:39There's a little bit of trouble left.
00:41But if you hit a good, solid tee shot,
00:42it's a spectacular par 5 that goes down the hill.
00:45I, standing here, have been known
00:47to have a little bit of the driver yips.
00:49Not the easiest moment for your boy,
00:51but I hit a pretty solid one, trying
00:52to set up for a little draw down the left center.
00:55Overcooked it a little bit, but it flew all the trouble.
00:57On the left rough, we got 230 out.

01:58And as you can tell, the reason this hole's awesome
02:00reminds me of Spyglass, the first hole at Spyglass Hill.

02:19There's wide open terrain, so the wind kind of always blows.
02:22Blew the camera over, but luckily, luckily,

02:25Hit a decent little wedge in there to 12 feet or so.
02:27We got a little left to right putt,
02:28which kind of messed with me because it
02:30breaks away from the ocean.
02:31So it wasn't exactly sure.
02:33Hard for me to commit to breaking as much as it did.

02:36Just rolled off to the right.
02:37We start this round with a nice little par.
