00:00and we'll see you next time.
00:07Live right here on this Monday with the pro football doc.
00:10Doctor David Chow joining us to recap a Sunday slate around the
00:14National Football League and look forward to another double
00:17header on this Monday night to end out week 7. Doctor Chow as
00:20always. We appreciate the time. Thanks for being here on the
00:23early line.
00:25Always happy to be here. Not happy to have lots of injuries,
00:28doctor detail from yesterday and many of them significant,
00:31especially at the quarterback position doc. Let's start with
00:34what we saw in Cleveland closing minutes of the opening half to
00:37Sean Watson goes down with a non-contact injury. The Browns
00:40saying after the game, they fear it is a torn Achilles from what
00:44we could see on replay and video. It's certainly look to be that
00:48but we're not doctors. You definitely are. What did you see
00:52with the Sean Watson's injury?
00:55What do you expect for the remainder of the year for the Browns
00:58quarterback? Look, normally we go by from the war room on 95%
01:01confidence before we give an injury opinion. This was 99.9 and
01:04we had it up. The guys in the war room were great. We had it up
01:07within 30 seconds on Twitter. It's gotten like, I don't know
01:10three plus million views or whatever a close-up of the calf
01:13reverberation Achilles, very clear. You don't need it. You
01:16don't need it. You don't need it. You don't need it. You don't
01:19need it. You don't need it. You don't need it. You don't need it.
01:22Unfortunately, more clear than Aaron Rodgers last year. So
01:25unfortunate here, Deshaun Watson finally was playing better
01:28early in that game. And then now this and he's done for the
01:31season and I have no idea what the cat, you know, implications
01:34are and future are. I can't tell you he's done for the season
01:37period. End of story. It will be no late season. Come back, etc.
01:40Doctor, what do you expect for the rest of the season?
01:43I think we're going to see a lot of good things. I think we're
01:46going to see a lot of good things. I think we're going to see a
01:50What's the latest on your beliefs here on? Brandon. Ayuck
01:59What's the latest on your beliefs here on Brandon Ayuck in his
02:02Well, by video. We only had a side video. We didn't have one
02:07from the front because players blocked it, but it was a right
02:11knee issue significant knee ligament issue at least MCL
02:15At least MCL tear, sprain tear, and the possibility of ACL, we didn't see the distinct video to be
02:23able to make that 95% call.
02:25But the MCL for sure.
02:27So at a minimum he's a four-week IR.
02:29There are some loose reports about fear of ACL on top of that, including from the head coach.
02:35It's usually pretty straightforward.
02:37So at this point, anything short of season ending would be great news for IU.
02:42And here's the irony.
02:44In-game yesterday, you had IU out.
02:47You had Debo sick and out.
02:49You had Jawan Jennings not starting the game.
02:52You could argue the number one receiver was Ricky Pearsall, who got shot six weeks ago.
02:57That was crazy.
02:59Made his NFL debut yesterday for the 49ers, who have been plagued by injuries in the offensive
03:05side.
03:07Of course, we still have not seen Christian McCaffrey at any point this season.
03:10Dr. Chow, back to the quarterbacks.
03:12And although it was an easy win for the Commanders to cruise to a 5-2 start, rookie quarterback
03:18and phenom Jaden Daniels injured early in the game, did come back to the sidelines in
03:23the second half in street clothes.
03:25He told reporters who were at the game, I'm good, I'm fine.
03:29His mom tweeted out that he's fine, not to worry.
03:33Do you think Jaden Daniels is actually fine?
03:36Doc, can we expect to see him play in a matchup of one versus two as the Commanders host
03:41the Bears on Sunday afternoon?
03:44I do believe Jaden Daniels is fine in the big picture, but not fine for next week for
03:51one versus two.
03:53By video, that early long run, that was a rib cartilage issue.
03:58Left lower rib soft cartilage.
04:00That's why x-rays were negative.
04:02There's no fracture there because there's no bone there.
04:04It's rib cartilage.
04:06But a lot of oblique muscles attached, torso rotation, control, painful.
04:13I think he misses a short stint.
04:15No IR, no surgery, but I think it's pretty tough to play through that this next week.
04:21This in some ways is a little bit Derek Carr-ish, and he's missing two games now.
04:27And, you know, not exact comp, but somewhat similar.
04:31If you think back to Justin Herbert early last year against the Chiefs rib soft cartilage,
04:35he played through some with an injection, but he's a vet.
04:39I think he misses one or two weeks.
04:42Interesting to watch that play out, Doc.
04:44But we do have Monday Night Football, a doubleheader today over at sixsquared.com.
04:47Take a look at the field views tonight.
04:49Pretty healthy in Tampa Bay and Baltimore, but I have questions for you on Tampa Bay.
04:53Number one with Mike Evans and that hamstring injury, and Vida Vea, their superstar defensive tackle.
04:58What are we hearing the latest on those two guys?
05:00I mean, good news on both those in terms of video and the reports.
05:04It looks like the hamstring is fine for Mike Evans.
05:07More tightness in Vida Vea seems fine.
05:09So it should be a good matchup with some relatively healthy teams there.
05:14The other game, you know, the concern is some DBs for Arizona Cardinals and also ability to stop the run.
05:21And we know Jim Harbaugh wants to run the football.
05:24And, by the way, his heart is fine.
05:28Yes, that is very good news.
05:30Doc, from the wide receiver position in that game between the Chargers and the Cardinals,
05:35a couple of young wideouts, their status a little bit in question.
05:38Marvin Harrison Jr., specifically for Arizona, exited the Cardinals' previous game with a concussion.
05:44Can we expect to see MHJ suit up for Arizona tonight?
05:49Absolutely. He's already been cleared.
05:51He's had full practices.
05:53He is slated to go.
05:54Barring some sort of last-second surprise, he is absolutely cleared and ready to go.
05:59Ladd McConkie for the Chargers, on the other hand, still questionable with the hip.
06:03We don't have a lot of video on that, so we don't have a lot of clarity.
06:07The Chargers have gotten a lot healthier.
06:09Their left tackle, right tackle are back.
06:12Obviously, Justin Herbert back.
06:13Joey Bosa is still the main question mark.
06:16And you saw the field view there.
06:17Look at the D-line for the Cardinals.
06:19That's where the issue is right there.
06:23Yeah, as you can see, that's the offensive.
06:25Go ahead, DRS.
06:26I was going to squeeze one more in, Doc, for you.
06:28DK Metcalf on Sunday.
06:29A lot of fantasy people watching.
06:31Four catches, 99 yards.
06:33Is that knee going to be troublesome moving forward, or is he okay?
06:36I think he's okay.
06:38Look, this is what I always say.
06:39What do I always say?
06:40Judge the video of the injury.
06:43Judge the actual injury.
06:45Don't judge the reaction to the injury.
06:48The cart off is a reaction to the injury.
06:51Look at Cincinnati Bengals Geno Stone's safety.
06:54Carted off in an air cast.
06:56And we all think air cast means broken bone and done.
06:59Well, he was walking around the locker room.
07:01There's nothing wrong with being overprotective early.
07:04This is why we judge video rather than reaction to the video.
07:08We don't judge Sean Watson's peers.
07:11We judge the fact that his calf popped.
07:13Right.
07:14And that's why the great work at Sports Injury Central, SICscore.com.
07:18Dr. Chow, we appreciate the time.
07:20We appreciate the time and the analysis, as always.
