00:00I would like to know if this room from my dreams exists somewhere out in the world and

00:04So I started asking the question when you decide to look for your dreams in real life. Where do you go?

00:10Craigslist, that's exactly where you go

00:12It was a white room with tall white walls warehouse windows

00:18Concrete floor and a mattress on the ground with white sheets

00:22I would visit this room every night for months while I slept

00:28And one day

00:29I brought it up to a friend and I said i've been having this crazy dream this recurring dream about this weird room

00:34Like what do we do about it? And she asked me the question that changed my life forever

00:39She said

00:40Have you ever thought about looking for your dreams in real life?

00:44After weeks go by this little tiny thumbnail goes up the screen

00:48And there in a tiny little box

00:51Is an image of my dream

00:52I got the place two weeks later

00:54It became my home and I literally said out loud in the middle of the white room from my dreams

00:59Why am I here?

01:01And as clear as day the space said back to me

01:05You're here to paint

01:07I woke up the next morning and I went to the art supply store. I got a couple supplies

01:11I went back to the white room for my dreams and I started painting non-stop for months waking up at three

01:17Four five in the morning. I couldn't stop. I just couldn't stop the only catch during all of this

01:24Is that I still had a job?

01:26I was working over 40 hours a week a job is something done nine to five typically something done for pay

01:34A career is a system of advancements and promotions

01:39A calling is something intrinsically motivating something that you would do regardless of pay

01:44It's not always likely that our jobs or even our careers are necessarily our callings

01:51I started stumbling across these beautiful stories like the author t.s. Elliot

01:55Did you guys know he was a banker in london?

01:57I mean go on and on einstein. He worked in the patent office for seven years while he hatched his theory of relativity

02:04Jobs can create beautiful structures for your callings

02:08Let's not get confused like we have got to have money if we want to live on this planet

02:13And you cannot be thinking about your calling if you don't have money to put food on the table for your family

02:19This is how the world wants you to show up

02:23You should do this. You should do that. Sometimes their requests are really small

02:28They're seemingly innocuous things that are very easily accommodated. You should read that book. You should check out that blog post

02:34Other times should can be large oppressive systems of thought

02:38That seek to convince people to live their lives differently

02:42When you choose should there's lots of rewards

02:45The road is very smooth. They make it worth your while

02:48I sometimes think like what would it look like if every single person right here in this room was like

02:53Chasing down that must like there was it was the last train out of town like what what would be different?

02:59What would we see?

03:00sometimes i'd like to think there'd be like new colors in the world or

03:03Like there we would maybe be living on different planets

03:05And when you say yes to must you're saying no to who your mom says you should be

03:11Who your dad says you should be who generations of people in your family?

03:15Believe that you should be the culture that you grow up in

03:19must is different

03:20Totally and completely different must doesn't have options. You have no other choices must is just who you are in your gut level

03:28What you believe what you want to do what you're drawn to what you don't want to do
