00:00Hey, how's it going peoples? This is Slime Green Beats back in the building making another vid and this one is about pattern versus song mode.

00:09So lately I've just been covering some of the basics of FL and some of the fundamentals.

00:14So just to give you a broader understanding and help you guys make better beats and whatnot.

00:20So a pattern versus song basically like applies to the playlist and the channel rack.

00:26So by playlist we mean like this right here and by channel rack we mean this right here.

00:33This is the playlist, this is the channel rack.

00:36It also applies to the piano roll. It really applies to the whole beat as a whole and basically it's just like what you hear and what you export.

00:46So to simplify what I'm saying here is like there's song here. Pattern is just going to play the pattern.

00:55So like you'll see this is the pattern right here. It's pattern one. See it's one.

00:59So it's just going to play one and all one is just a melody.

01:04So it'll just play like this pattern. It's not going to play like the entire song.

01:10Just like the melody pattern. See it's like playing like this in the piano roll.

01:22Which is a sweet guitar riff.

01:25But if I switch to song mode it's going to play the entire song. So it plays all the patterns together.

01:31So I have one pattern and then I added like another melody pattern. I got like a bass looking pattern. I got a kick.

01:37So song mode is going to play the whole thing.

01:42See now it plays the first pattern but it also is playing all the other patterns.

01:47Song. Pattern.

01:54So it's going to play the whole thing.

01:56When you export if it's in song mode or pattern mode you have to note this.

02:02But you can switch it up here too.

02:04So if you just select pattern it's just going to export pattern one or whatever pattern you have selected.

02:10For song it's going to export the whole thing. You'll see like the time is different and what not.

02:15So that's something to note too when you're exporting.

02:18And that's all there really is to pattern versus song.

02:21Pattern is just like a specific pattern.

02:26One is exactly like what's in this first pattern.

02:30Two you'll see has a different pattern.

02:32Three you'll see has a different pattern.

02:33You can put multiple sounds in the same pattern.

02:36I separate sounds by pattern.

02:39So like I use, I just have like one type of sound per pattern.

02:43Sometimes I do layer them.

02:45Like see pattern four has multiple sounds on it.

02:49So you'll hear like a kick, a hi-hat and a snare.

02:53That's because sometimes when I record drums I'll record all three of these at the same time.

02:58Like I'll record the kick, hi-hat and snare.

03:00Kind of like when you're playing drums you'll play like.

03:03Like I do that.

03:05But yeah.

03:07That's pattern versus song.
