Kenya to send more police to Haiti after new gang attacks

00:03They are currently training here in Kenya, said Kenya's president William Ruto during

00:07a press conference with Haiti's prime minister.

00:10Ten countries pledged to send 2,900 policemen and soldiers in Haiti to take part in this

00:15multinational security mission in Haiti.

00:19But so far, only Kenya really sent troops on the ground.

00:22Four hundred policemen in June and 600 more will arrive in November.

00:28According to Kenya's president William Ruto, the situation on the ground has improved

00:32since the beginning of the operation.

00:34But it did not prevent the worst massacres in years to occur last week around the city

00:39of Ponsondé.

00:40One hundred and fifteen people were killed by gang members.

00:44According to Haiti's prime minister, Kenyan policemen were quick to react.

00:49They arrived in the city within a few hours and they managed to bring back security around

00:56Kenya's president and Haiti's prime minister mostly spoke about security issues.
