'All hands on deck' for Hillsborough County law enforcement as Milton arrives

00:00We're hours away from one of the worst hurricanes to make landfall in and around the Tampa Bay area.

00:06Now we want to go now and there is that I-Path and also there will be impacts all across the

00:12central Florida peninsula as we go through the overnight hours as Milton maintains its hurricane

00:18status. We're going to go now to Tampa where Harrisboro County Sheriff Chad Chronister is

00:23joining us and thank you so much sir for taking time out of your day. How are your team spending

00:29these final hours this afternoon and this evening until Hurricane Milton arrives?

00:36Yeah a little bit of everything. We're with our assets ready to ready to launch tomorrow

00:42or later I should say this evening. Getting some some rest as we made sure they didn't go home and

00:47they stayed here so they could get back here. As you could imagine it's it's all hands on deck.

00:52We had a small sinkhole that's already opened in the south end of the county with the amount of

00:57rain that we've already received and the conditions are quickly very rapidly deteriorating

01:02here in Tampa. Okay so with the expected storm surge there are there different operations for

01:09this type of hurricane than previous ones? Yeah there there absolutely is. We use more of our

01:16airboats, our marine assets, john boats, our three amphibious vehicles. We have some fish and wildlife

01:22officers that already responded and are with us as well with all their high water and marine assets

01:28to make sure that responses as soon as it's safe to do so when the storm passes we can go out there

01:34and go in these deep deep deep water and conduct this search and rescue and patrol operations.

01:40Do in essence what we're trained and prepared to do. Most important safety messages for residents

01:48and visitors. At this time it's wherever you're sheltered stay in place. I'm I'm

01:55pleading with you. I'm begging with you. With these conditions deteriorating as rapidly as they are
