Mural provides solidarity in Tamworth

00:00And with many of the world's eyes on the Middle East at the moment as a flashpoint for global

00:08conflict, multiple artists working on the mural told me that it's important to find

00:13reasons to come together, perhaps now more so than ever before.

00:16And how does it feel to have this second stage of this mural almost complete?

00:22I feel very excited, I feel very included, I had a great weekend painting with all my

00:29artist friends as well as the local volunteers, it's been absolutely wonderful.

00:34What do the trees on the mural symbolise?

00:37So as you know this is the second stage of the mural, and the trees in the mural, the

00:42Cypress tree, which is from many many cultures, represents strength and everlastingness, and

00:49you know they stand strong for many many years to come.

00:53You've got some interesting calligraphy here behind both of you, would you mind taking

01:02us through, explaining a bit what that means, what it's symbolised?

01:05Yeah, this is a nice poem done by one of our locals, and I can read it in Persian and then

01:13translate it.

01:14So it says,

01:15It means that this is for the people who lost their life fighting for freedom, and their

01:28life wasn't theirs, it wasn't theirs, they become more life, thousands of life, and there

01:38is a translation in English in that one too, so it means that one flower grows a garden

01:46of flowers.
