00:00There is no need for Sabah and Sarawak to prepare an alternative plan for when Putrajaya

00:22They said Sabah and Sarawak's push is about correcting a historical wrong following Singapore's

00:27exit from the Federation in 1965.

00:31When Malaysia was formed in 1963, Malaya was allocated 105 of the 160 seats in the Dewan

00:37Rakyat, with Sarawak holding 24 seats, Sabah 16, and Singapore 15.

00:44After its departure, Singapore's 15 seats were not redistributed to Sabah and Sarawak,

00:49causing the Bornean states to lose their veto power.

00:52Peter said East Malaysians are not negotiating, but rather demanding that their seats be

00:57returned to them.

00:59Chin said it was inevitable that the Bornean states would have their seats restored, as

01:03the demand was previously endorsed by the government's Special Council on the Malaysia

01:07Agreement in 1963.
