00:11we're discussing 10 things to consider before buying Sony's newly announced PS5 Pro. I don't know about this

00:34Price tag. The Pro console cost

00:37$200 more than the regular version

00:41310 with all the attachments. When the PS4 Pro was announced the PS4 received a massive price decrease

00:47This was in a significantly different economic climate and electronics manufacturing doesn't quite decline with time as it did in the 2010s

00:56A lot of people are understandably upset at the price hike

00:59However, the total value of the hardware upgrades comes out to around $200

01:04So Sony is selling you $200 worth of better hardware for roughly $200

01:10While it is unfortunate the PS5 has not received a price decrease

01:14It's still one of the best gaming consoles ever made and the base console is still a well-valued machine

01:20No disk drive and stand

01:23But first I want to take just a minute to look at what we put in the original

01:27PlayStation 5 and how it delivers an exceptional gaming experience

01:31The most shameless feature of the PS5 Pro is its complete lack of both a disk drive and a stand

01:37The original PS5 included both of these things and cost $200 less at release

01:43If you want to put a disk onto the Pro model, you will have to spend an additional

01:47$79.99 and if you want it to stand up comfortably, Sony expects you to pay an additional $29.99

01:55So the price of the PS5 Pro, disk drive and stand is over $800

02:00More than $300 more than the PS5 itself. For that price, you could not only buy a PS5

02:07But could also probably acquire the entire catalog of games exclusive to the machine

02:12That was an unkind comparison

02:15No trade-ins

02:17PS5 Pro substantially improves over PlayStation 5 in three ways

02:22Here's what we call the big three

02:24Sony allowed customers to trade in their PS4s for a voucher worth up to a hundred and fifty dollars

02:30Which could be put towards a brand new PS5. This cut the price of the console down

02:36Significantly and provided more incentive to make the switch

02:39Unfortunately Sony offers no similar deal for the PS5 Pro

02:43Of course third-party retailers can still give you money for your old console

02:48but to a lot of people this can be more complicated than just trading it to Sony directly and also shows an

02:55Unwillingness to give any sort of a discount on PS5 Pro purchases and makes a lot of people think this new

03:00Console is just a cash grab. Okay before we get down to business. There's something I have to tell you

03:07I'm

03:10Fresh out of honey

03:12Developers need to update games

03:13The dreams of the developers are bigger than can be supported at 60 frames per second and that leads to an aspect of modern gaming

03:20That we're all familiar with

03:22graphics modes

03:24Unfortunately games need extra work from developers to fully utilize the PS5 Pros new hardware

03:30This means at release there's a chance your favorite games won't even run better on the Pro console

03:36Sony has declared that roughly 40 to 50 games will be ready on release

03:40Including popular titles such as Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2 and both entries in the Last of Us series

03:47Not all games are on this list though with plenty of popular titles not receiving the Pro upgrade

03:54Hopefully as time goes on more games will be able to take full advantage of the PS5 Pros hardware

04:00But it makes developers jobs a lot harder as they now have to develop two versions just for one console

04:14PS4 games enhancements

04:17You can't stop this

04:20One new feature is PS5 Pro game boost which Sony claims works for more than

04:268,500 backwards compatible PS4 games which can be played on the new console

04:31This will significantly enhance the performance and visual fidelity of past-gen titles

04:36Including popular titles such as Bloodborne which has never received a frame rate boost

04:42This sounds good at first

04:43But the PS5 already promised this exact thing four years ago

04:48And it feels like Sony is just trying to sell this feature for a second time

04:52Some people bought the base PS5 for this exact reason and are now confused why they bought the console in the first place

05:00Additionally Microsoft has been enhancing old games on the Xbox for years already

05:11Wi-Fi 7

05:14It's using this satellite network to track his targets you're not getting away daddy

05:22Exciting upgrade is that the new Pro console is capable of supporting Wi-Fi 7 of course a router capable of Wi-Fi 7 is

05:30Needed but if so you will have the fastest internet connection possible on a console

05:36Since it's a digital only console all your games will probably be downloaded

05:41So this feels like a necessary addition for those out of the loop

05:45Wi-Fi 7 is up to 4.8 times faster than Wi-Fi 6

05:49So it will provide much more reliable speed and connectivity an ethernet port still exists

05:55However, and will always provide more speed than a wireless connection. Sorry for like jostling around earlier things aren't exactly going well

06:19Complications one of the things putting a lot of people off the ps5 is its distinct lack of exclusive games

06:26The selection of games truly exclusive to the console is pitiful

06:30With the majority of the most popular titles being available on other systems such as the ps4

06:35Not only this but Sony has also recently been releasing a lot of their previously exclusive games for PC

06:42Giving you even less incentive to buy a console this generation

06:46This was a major criticism of the machine back at release and after four years

06:51it's still just as valid making a lot of gamers feel like they might as well just stick to their ps4 or

06:57Even just convert to PC gaming

07:00This system is quite old and

07:03intricate

07:04Performance improvements the pro version includes the same SSD and CPU

07:10However, the GPU is massively upgraded with 67% more compute units and

07:1728% more VRAM making it approximately

07:2048% faster than the ps5 overall before the ps5's graphics card was equivalent to a five-year-old

07:27Rx 5700 XT, but the pro version is equivalent to a current version rx

07:347700 XT so for those gamers who are particularly interested in graphics

07:39Improvement is majorly exciting not everyone feels the same way

07:44However, and a lot of gamers believe improved graphics just aren't enough to sell a console anymore ray tracing improvements

07:56Ray tracing is one of the most exciting game enhancements currently developing for those unaware

08:02It's a method that games can use to simulate real-life lighting

08:06It's been used in movies for decades with films like cars making good use of it in the 2020s

08:12It finally became possible to add it to video games and the technology has advanced leagues in the past four years

08:19As such the old ps5's rDNA 2.0 ray tracing methods are majorly outdated

08:26So the ps5 pro will feature rDNA 4.0

08:29One of the most advanced ray tracing architectures on the market with this feature the ps5 pro will be the only

08:36Console able to compete with the ray tracing possibilities of a PC

08:47PSSR and an AI library called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution or PSSR for short

08:55Probably the most exciting feature is the addition of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution or

09:02PSSR this is comparable to NVIDIA's DLSS and AMD's FSR

09:08It's an AI upscaling technology that allows you to play games and resolutions below your native one and then upscale it to higher

09:16Resolutions the result is significantly improved performance for a minor lack in visual fidelity

09:23This makes gaming in 4k resolution even more reachable and also makes 8k gaming even more possible

09:30If you just so happen to possess superhuman eyesight and can tell the difference between 4k and 8k

09:36It's the only console developed to have such technology making it the most exciting selling point for this machine

09:43Simply put it's the most powerful console we've ever built and a worthy addition to the ps5 family
